Chapter 257 Obtain Evidence
Serenity was the most crucial witness in the entire incident. Only her testimony could clear Magnus of the suspicion of molestation.
Ophe was well aware that if she missed today's opportunity, she might not have another chance to ask Serenity.
"Serenity, don't be afraid. I'm really not a bad person." Ophe tried her best to comfort her.
Next door, Jett continued yelling, asked Serenity to ignore Ophe, and urged Riley to take Serenity away.
It was fortunate that Jett was paralyzed and Tobias was not around; otherwise, with only Ophe and Seraphina, there would be no chance to question Serenity.
Ophe was worried about Tobias's return and the potential conflict that might arise. Being pregnant, she was at a disadvantage, so she quickly called Linda and asked her to bring some people over.
Then, Ophe asked Serenity patiently. Since the door was locked, she still had time.
Serenity was still crying, and Jett grabbed his phone and already called Tobias.
When Seraphina heard Jett's report, she quickly shouted to Ophe in the room, "Ophe, hurry up! Jett called Tobias!"
Ophe heard Seraphina's voice and crouched down beside Serenity. She said patiently, "Serenity, I want to ask you a few questions. Your uncle is in trouble, and he will be caught by the police and go to jail. Only you can save him. Your uncle is so good to you. Do you want to save him? You are his hero. If you don't tell the truth, your uncle will be punished. He sees you as his daughter, and you call him daddy. Do you want your daddy to go to jail?"
Serenity stopped crying when she heard about Magnus. "What did he do wrong? Why does the police uncle want to catch him? Policeman sir, don't catch him. He is a good person."
"Serenity, if you don't want your daddy to be caught by the police, then answer a few questions for me, okay?" Ophe was also anxious.
Serenity nodded. "Okay."
Ophe reopened the recording and rerecorded a section. "Serenity, what is your new daddy's name?"
Serenity still knew, and with a childish voice, she said, "Magnus."
Ophe continued, "Why do you recognize Magnus as your daddy? Who made you recognize him?"
Serenity answered slowly, "Jett and Tobias made me recognize Magnus as the new daddy."
"Is the new daddy good to you?" Ophe asked. "How is he good to you?"
Serenity said, "My new daddy praises me, buys me toys, and when I behave well, he kisses me. He likes touching my face the most."
Ophe felt relieved when she heard these words. So, the online rumors about Magnus kissing and touching Serenity were all true. Tobias completely quoted out of context and deliberately defamed Magnus.
"Besides kissing and touching your face, is there anything else?" Ophe asked. "Do you sleep with the new daddy? How do you sleep together?"
These were all crucial questions.
Serenity thought for a moment and said, "The new daddy is very busy, so he lets me sleep first. He sleeps on that side, and I sleep on this side."
Ophe breathed a sigh of relief again. "Serenity, you are really good. Okay, I have finished asking questions. With your help, the police won't catch your new daddy."
"Really?" Serenity was praised, and her eyes lit up. She was very happy.
Children always liked being praised.
"Oh yes, Serenity is the best," Ophe praised Serenity with a smile.
At this moment, there was a loud noise outside the door, the sound of someone banging on it.
Tobias had come back.
Ophe dared not open the door. Tobias was angry now, and if she did, there would surely be a conflict.
If she weren't pregnant, she wouldn't be afraid, but now she had to consider the baby.
Ophe covered Serenity's ears and let her not be scared.
Tobias was outside shouting, "It's my family's business; it's none of your business. Open the door!"
Tobias shouldn't be underestimated because of his age; he still had strength, and when he got angry, he looked particularly intimidating.
Seraphina was also scared; she didn't dare to intervene and was afraid of getting hit.
Tobias was holding a chair in his hand and smashing the door. Suddenly, Seraphina thought of borrowing a knife to kill.
Ophe was pregnant. If she were hit or had an accident that caused miscarriage, it would be wonderful, and then she wouldn't need to think of any other ways.
Seraphina stepped forward and deliberately tried to stop Tobias. "Tobias, don't act impulsively."
Tobias angrily shouted, "Get out of the way!"
Seraphina screamed miserably. She was intentional. In fact, Tobias hadn't touched her at all. She just pretended to be hit and fell to the ground.
Inside the house, Ophe heard the commotion and naturally worried that something had happened to Seraphina. She couldn't see what was happening outside, so she could only hear the sounds.
Ophe anxiously opened the door when she heard Seraphina's scream.
