Chapter 534 Major Clue
Natalie couldn't be allowed to live any longer.
This thought crossed Niamh's mindNatalie had to die if shewanted to leave City N safely.
Now that Deacon was dead, there was one less person who knew her weaknesses. Once Natalie died, no one would know what she had done. Even if they did, there would be no evidence.
The next day, Niamh went to the hospital early in the morning. Natalie was still being treated, her life hanging by a thread thanks to medical equipment.
The police were guarding her all day.
Landon had been busy lately, investigating Deacon's death, so he couldn't pay attention to Natalie.
As a family member, Niamh had the right to visit, a privilege that Ophelia had tacitly allowed.
In fact, Ophelia wanted Niamh to visit Natalie.
Natalie's ward was bugged, something even Natalie didn't know.
When Niamh arrived, the officer on duty closed the door behind her and stood guard outside.
"Niamh." Natalie was getting weaker, her voice faint, as she reached out to hold Niamh's hand.
Niamh walked over, a hint of disdain in her eyes, and sat down, feigning distress. "Mom, I asked the doctors. They can't save you. Living here every day on these drugs is worse than death. It pains me to see you like this."
Niamh was really blunt.
Of course, no one could bear the countdown to their own life.
Hearing that the doctors couldn't save her, Natalie was filled with despair and fear.
"Niamh, you have to save me." Natalie reached out in panic, grabbing Niamh's hand with some force.
Niamh wanted to shake her off, but remembering her purpose, she held back. She leaned in close to Natalie's ear and whispered, "Mom, if you stay alive, they'll keep investigating Dovie's death. Do you want me to end up like you?"
Hearing this, Natalie's pupils dilated. She understood that Niamh was telling her to end herself.
Niamh didn't want her to live.
"Mom, don't look at me like that," Niamh whispered in Natalie's ear. "I'm going abroad and won't be coming back. I'll fulfill your wishes. I'm your only daughter. You can't just watch me get into trouble. You have a responsibility to protect me. You owe me that."
After saying this, Niamh straightened up, looking coldly and heartlessly at Natalie on the bed.
In this state, Natalie was as good as dead.
Niamh didn't say anything more and prepared to leave the hospital.
As she turned, Natalie looked at her with tear-filled eyes, calling out, "Niamh..."
Niamh didn't look back. Natalie was of no value to her anymore. She had already taken over all of Natalie's assets, managed by Jesse. From now on, she only needed to live a life of luxury and enjoy her days abroad with Finnegan.
After Niamh left, the police immediately replayed the bug's recording but found nothing useful.
The words Niamh whispered in Natalie's ear weren't recorded.
Ophelia also received the news that Niamh had visited Natalie and requested a review of the bug's recording.
Niamh had clearly stayed in the room for a long time, but nothing substantial was recorded. Niamh was very cautious, not daring to say anything, or perhaps it just wasn't recorded.
Ophelia didn't know why Niamh had gone to see Natalie but had a bad feeling and instructed the officers to keep a closer watch.
Landon had already expanded the scope of the investigation, checking hundreds of cars overnight and reviewing the dock's surveillance footage. In the footage, they not only found Oscar but also Niamh.
Oscar could be completely ruled out. He didn't have the capability to take Finnegan away. Given his collusion with Deacon, his presence at the dock was reasonable.
But Niamh appearing at the dock was baffling.
Moreover, Niamh's car was seen on the route to the dock, but there was no footage of its return.
This finding excited Ophelia. 'Could it be that Niamh had taken Finnegan?' she thought.
