Chapter 246 Examining the Birthmark

After leaving Parks Corporation, Ophe had little contact with Dovie and even less interaction with Natalie; they had yet to exchange a single word since their last meeting.

Ophe was surprised to see Natalie at the Japanese restaurant.

"Hello," Ophe greeted politely.

Natalie turned to look at Ophe, her expression neither warm nor cold. "I heard you opened a Japanese restaurant. Since I happened to pass by today, I thought I'd come and try it."

"That's not a problem. Please come inside," Ophe said with a hospitable attitude. "Natalie, let me arrange a private room for you."

Although Ophe smiled, she could sense that Natalie didn't like her. Otherwise, Natalie would only address her by using her name or treating her as Mrs. Abbott's.

If Natalie was really here to eat, she could just come in and order. Instead, she stood outside and had someone call for her.

Natalie intentionally displayed her arrogance, making Ophe personally greet her.

Ophe prepared a private room and seated Natalie. She then poured coffee for her. "Here is a QR code for the menu. Just scan it, and you can order whatever you like."

As long as customers came to dine, Ophe didn't mind serving anyone.

Natalie maintained her attitude throughout and said, "I'm not very skilled with this, Ophe. Just arrange a set meal for me. It's a bit lonely eating alone; you should sit down, too."

Ophe also wanted to see what Natalie was up to, so she smiled and sat down. "Alright, I'll order for you."

Ophe ordered the signature dish, a Salmon Sushi Roll. Whether Natalie liked sweet food or not, it would still be suitable.

Soon, the waiter brought the dishes, and Ophe taught Natalie how to eat.

Natalie looked at Ophe with a cold gaze and sarcastically smiled. "Ophe, you are very capable; no wonder you have control over Finnegan."

Ophe laughed. "You're joking. I don't have any abilities. In a marriage, it's about mutual tolerance to make it last."

"You went from being a mere secretary to the current Mrs. Abbott's. How can you not have any abilities? This ability of yours is admirable. Countless women have thoughts about Finnegan, but you stood out and even got pregnant. Holding the position of Mrs. Abbott's is commendable and worthy of learning from. Niamh should learn from you."

Ophe understood that this was meant to stand up for Niamh.

She continued to engage with Natalie. "Taste this and see if you like it."

Ophe changed the subject.

Natalie only took a small taste with her fork, and then she sneakily asked Ophe, "I heard that you're an orphan. Which orphanage were you in before?"

Ophe naturally wouldn't reveal personal information like this, so she made up a story half-truthfully, "The orphanage I stayed in was dismantled a long time ago. It's hard to survive in New York without any background or connections."

Natalie retorted mockingly, "It's hard to survive, yet you've made it to the top of the pyramid."

"That's just luck." Ophe deliberately asked, "I seem to have heard that you're still unmarried. It's really rare to see someone of your age who hasn't married yet."

If Natalie wanted to inquire about her matters, then Ophe would reciprocate.

"Marriage depends on fate." Natalie's expression became difficult as she remembered some things from her youth.

It wasn't that she didn't want to get married, but rather, she didn't have that fate.

"Yes, fate determines who belongs to whom." Ophe hinted, "Whoever's meant to be will certainly be, and no one can take that away."

Natalie's face turned unpleasant, and her gaze briefly glanced at Ophe's waist.

She clearly remembered that the child had a birthmark on their left waist back then.

Ophe was wearing a t-shirt, and if she wanted to see if there was a birthmark on her waist, she would need a reasonable excuse to lift her clothes.

Thinking of this, Natalie picked up the condiment bowl in her hand and pretended to slip, pouring the oil and sugar all over Ophe's clothes, getting them entirely dirty.

"Sorry, it slipped. Let me help you clean it." Natalie grabbed some tissues and intentionally tried to wipe Ophe's clothes.

"No need." Ophe stood up. "I can handle it myself."

"Let me clean it." Natalie insisted on wiping Ophe's clothes and ignored Ophe's refusal to lift up the clothes.
