Chapter 571 Marriage Breakdown
Celia was furious, and Jude defending Paula only added fuel to the flames.
Celia yanked Jude's hair, hitting and cursing him, but still felt unsatisfied. "Put on your clothes and come back with me. You still want to sleep with this bitch, don't you?"
Jude was stunned by her yelling. He glanced at Paula and picked up his clothes. Putting them on, he followed Celia back home.
Paula was also bewildered. With Celia being so aggressive, she didn't dare say anything.
On the way back, Jude kept explaining, "Celia,I really don't have any affiars with Paula. I don't even know what happened. I saw a guy trying to take advantage of Paula, so I went to save her..."
"I think the one trying to take advantage was you. Playing the hero, huh?" Celia was fuming. "Jude, we've been married for over thirty years. You're not young anymore but you're still cheating on me. Do you think that's fair to me? I want a divorce."
"No. I was framed. I was going to introduce Paula to Lloyd," Jude explained.
Celia got even angrier. "What? Do you want to bring her into the Abbott family so you two can flirt under my nose every day? Finnegan's surgery failed, and you're out messing around. You have no conscience."
Jude was speechless as he couldn't defend himself.
Jude thought of something and said, "Celia, it was Lloyd who asked me to go out. I'll ask Lloyd about this later. He can vouch for me."
Celia retorted, "Did he ask you to go book a room with Paula?"
Jude was once again at a loss for words.
When they got home, Celia started packing her clothes, threatening to go back to her parents' house.
Their argument was so loud that Susan, who was resting in her room, heard it and came out. Seeing Celia with a suitcase, she asked, "It's so late, Celia. Where are you going?"
Celia, with tears streaming down her face, said, "Mom, Jude has been in an affair with another woman behind my back, and I caught him red-handed. I can't live with him anymore."
Celia stormed out, and Jude couldn't stop her.
Susan was confused and asked Jude, "What's going on? Are you betraying Ceila? Which woman seduced you?"
"Mom, it's all a misunderstanding. I can't even explain it." Jude was dumbfounded. The fact that he and Paula were in the same bed was undeniable.
Being caught by Celia was also the truth.
"Then why did Celia say she caught you? What happened? Tell me." Susan was so angry she was about to hit him with her cane.
Jude sighed and said, "Lloyd asked me to go out for something. I happened to see Paula unconscious, being taken away by a man. I was worried she was in danger, so I followed. Then I felt a pain in my butt and passed out. When I woke up, I was in bed with Paula next to me. It was witnessed by Celia, and that's what happened."
Susan knew Jude well enough. Paula was supposed to be introduced to Lloyd, and Jude wouldn't have an affair with her.
Susan asked, "Then go check the parking lot surveillance and clear things up with Celia."
"Right, I'll go now." Jude hurried to the restaurant parking lot.
It turned out that the surveillance footage was normal, but there was no sign of Paula and Jude in the parking lot.
The surveillance was working with the matching time and correct date, but there was no trace of what Jude described.
At the sight of the footage, Jude was dumbfounded, thinking he must be haunted.
The hotel was above the restaurant, and the hallway surveillance did show them entering a room together.
Jude was completely bewildered. He called Susan, "Mom, I must be haunted by a ghost. The surveillance shows Paula and me entering the room together, but I have no memory of it."
Now, there was no way to explain it.
When Paula came to check the surveillance, she happened to run into Jude.
Seeing that it was Jude who helped her into the hotel room, Paula was overwhelmed by mixed feelings. She asked, "Jude, it was you? Do you like me?"
Paula thought Jude liked her. In her eyes, the reason for Jude setting her up with Lloyd was to get close to her.
Jude's mind was in chaos. "How could I like you? Damn it, this surveillance is fake."
"Jude, are you trying to shirk responsibility?" Paula didn't care what was going on. She had slept with Jude, and she wasn't going to let it go.
