Chapter 568 Still Can't See
Ophelia called Emerson to ask her to pack some of Dovie's belongings and send them to Wilder in Country F to ease his longing.
After receiving the call, Emerson went upstairs and opened the door to Dovie's former bedroom.
She hadn't been afraid before. However, thinking about the missing dog and the strange occurrences lately, Emerson felt a bit scared while packing the belongings.
After quickly packing some items, she boxed them up. She then called a courier to come to pick them up and send them to the address Ophelia provided.
Afterward, Emerson went out to look for the dog and ran into Lori. She asked, "Lori, have you seen my dog?"
"No," Lori said. "The dog is missing?"
Emerson said, "I came back from grocery shopping, and it was gone. The cage was still closed. This dog is too smart. Sometimes it opens the cage by itself and gets out."
Lori thought about what had happened earlier and said, "By the way, around nine in the morning, I heard some noise from your house. The dog was barking miserably. I called out to you several times, but no one answered."
"I left to buy groceries before nine and didn't come back until almost noon. I wasn't home," Emerson said, feeling even more creeped out. "Lori, I've noticed something strange at home these days. It seemed like there's someone else there."
"Do you have someone hiding in your house?" Lori joked. "A man, perhaps?"
"I'm serious. It really feels weird lately." Emerson shook her head. "I'm too scared to stay there."
"Could it be haunted?" Lori said, "I'll go check the house with you, or I can stay with you at night. It's a pity not to use such a big house."
"Then you have to come and stay with me at night," Emerson said. "I'm frightened alone."
"Sure, no problem," Lori said generously. "Since we live close by, I'll come over after I'm done with my stuff at night."
Emerson felt relieved. From that day on, Emerson only cooked what she could eat in one meal and threw away any leftovers, not keeping anything in the fridge.
Emerson also stopped buying snacks and fruits. Lori would come over to sleep with her at night.
With no leftovers and an extra person in the house, Niamh didn't dare to come downstairs. Even if she did, she was extremely cautious.
When she was too hungry to bear it, Niamh would sneak into the kitchen to find food when Emerson wasn't home, even eating raw eggs if necessary.
While eating, Niamh cursed Emerson for not buying more snacks, leaving her starving.
During Niamh's days in hiding, Paula was aggressively pursuing Lloyd.
Lloyd was very annoyed but couldn't do anything to Paula without alerting the Abbott family.
Paula pretended to be virtuous and gentle, often saying what could be easily misunderstood.
For example, Paula once said to Lloyd, "I know what you do, and I admire you. It's okay if you don't like me now. We can develop feelings over time. I can even give birth to a son for you."
Lloyd had a murderous intent at that moment, thinking Paula knew he was the founder of Moonlight Gate.
If Jude hadn't shown up just then, Paula would have been dead.
While Lloyd was troubled, Finnegan was ready to have his bandages removed.
On the day of the bandage removal, Susan also went to the hospital. Everyone was very nervous. As James slowly removed the bandages layer by layer, Finnegan gradually opened his eyes, and everyone looked at him with anticipation.
Ophelia, holding Warmie, nervously clenched her hands. "Finnegan, can you see?"
Lloyd was also there, observing Susan's reaction.
Lloyd asked, "Finnegan, how do you feel?"
Susan leaned on her cane, her face full of hope.
As Finnegan opened his eyes, everything went from blurry to clear. He could see and noticed the silver bracelet on Anthony's wrist behind Lloyd, identical to the one worn by Deacon's killer that night.
It was just as he had suspected.
"Finnegan?" Ophelia called again. "Can you see?"
Finnegan continued to act as if he was located by sound, facing Ophelia. He saw Warmie in her arms, noticing how much she had changed in the month he hadn't seen her.
Warmie reached out her little hand, wanting Finnegan to hold her, and mumbled, "Hug me please."
Suppressing his emotions, Finnegan shook his head expressionlessly. "I still can't see."
