Chapter 192 Not Biting

Celia deliberately mentioned Finnegan's ex-girlfriend to provoke Ophe, hoping to ruin their relationship. However, Ophe's reaction was different from what Celia expected. She nodded thoughtfully and said, "No wonder your son is so eager to marry me. He's thirty years old and doesn't even have a wife. Others would laugh at him."

Upon hearing this, Celia was taken aback, and her face turned serious. "Ophe, don't you understand what I mean? My son's heart belongs to someone else. He doesn't love you. Aren't you bothered by that?"

Ophe didn't mind at all and asked seriously, "Why should I be bothered? Everyone has exes. For someone like Finnegan, who is rich and handsome, if he didn't have an ex-girlfriend, I would suspect there's something wrong with him. It's not a big deal."

Celia was at a loss for words.

Ophe really didn't think it was a big deal. Wasn't it normal to have an ex nowadays?

"You..." Celia was so angry that she was at a loss for words. "Ophe, do you know what this neighborhood is called? Orchid Garden. Do you know what it represents? It means my son hasn't forgotten his ex-girlfriend. He likes Lynn. Aren't you angry?"

"When you put it that way, it makes me even more heartbroken for my husband. It shows that he is a loyal person. Good men like him are hard to come by these days. I'm lucky to have found a gem. I'm so happy. Why should I be angry? Isn't that taking advantage of a good thing?" Ophe had no trace of anger on her face; instead, she genuinely felt sorry for Finnegan being destroyed by his mother.

"Ophe." Celia raised her voice with anger. "I think you're after my son's money. You don't actually love him."

Ophe laughed. "Aunt Celia, are you possessive over your son? Can you not stand seeing him with a woman and you want to drive me away? Well, let me tell you, by then, your son will be a divorced man. I am not Lynn. I have thick skin."

Ophe wasn't dumb; she knew Celia's intentions. Why would she fall into her trap?

As long as Finnegan was willing to spend his life with her, why would she care about the past?

Ophe smiled and had a good attitude, while Celia was furious, saying, "What nonsense are you talking about? I don't acknowledge any relationship between you and Little Finnegan."

"As long as the law of the land recognizes it," Ophe thought openly and asked with a gossipy look, "Aunt Celia, can you tell me more about the story between my husband and his ex-girlfriend? Who is more beautiful, me or her?"

Celia was speechless again because Ophe didn't follow the usual script.

Celia angrily walked away, and Ophe called from behind, "Aunt Celia, don't go. Since you're already here, stay and have dinner together."

"Vixen," Celia muttered as she walked even faster.

She originally wanted to upset Ophe but ended up getting herself upset.

Celia realized that Ophe was more challenging to deal with than Lynn in the past.

Celia left, carrying a bellyful of anger, with no intention of having any food.

Finnegan came back early, arriving home at 7 o'clock.

Ophe came out with a plate of steamed fish and said, "Your mother came today, but she seemed unhappy when she left."

Finnegan immediately realized something and casually picked up the fish meat for Ophe. He asked, "What did you say to my mother that made her upset?"

Finnegan wasn't interrogating, just purely curious and gossipy.

Ophe finished all the fish meat that Finnegan gave without answering his question. Instead, she counter-questioned, "Why did you buy this house in the first place?"
