Chapter 50 Finnegan Can't Get It up for Her
Caspian, carrying gifts, strode in without hesitation, saying, "Miss Sinclair, these are all for your health. A girl should take good care of herself."
Ophelia was still pondering why Finnegan would come to her community when Caspian seized the opportunity to bring the gifts inside.
"Mr. Hawthorne, I can't accept these without giving you anything in return," Ophelia said. "They're too expensive, please take them back."
"These are skincare products that girls use; what am I supposed to do with them? Just use them," Caspian laughed. "Don't be polite with me. You're now the apple of Finnegan's eye, so I definitely need to maintain good relations."
Ophelia really couldn’t understand Caspian.
"Mr. Hawthorne, you really misunderstand. Mr. Abbott and I..."
"Miss Sinclair, I've known Finnegan for over twenty years. Do you think I don't know what kind of person he is?" Caspian joked. "Is he the kind of person who cares about his subordinates? I doubt that. I bet Finnegan is definitely interested in you, Miss Sinclair. Be careful."
"That's absolutely impossible." Ophelia served the pasta from the kitchen and began to eat, "Mr. Abbott has a girlfriend. Mr. Hawthorne, please don't make such jokes in the future."
"You mean that woman from Orchid Garden?" Caspian said dismissively. "Finnegan will definitely dump her soon."
Ophelia was surprised, "Why?"
Was he such a fickle person?
Caspian simply said, "Finnegan can't get it up for her."
Ophelia couldn't help but spit out the pasta she had just eaten.
It sprayed directly onto Caspian's face, who was sitting across from her.
Caspian fell silent. He didn’t know how to react.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Hawthorne, I didn't mean to," Ophelia was embarrassed.
Ophelia quickly grabbed a tissue for Caspian, "Here, wipe yourself."
Caspian calmly took the tissue and wiped his face. His clothes were stained with pasta sauce, which couldn't be cleaned off.
Ophelia was really embarrassed, "Mr. Hawthorne, I'm really sorry."
Caspian casually said, "Miss Sinclair, an apology is too casual. My clothes are dirty; you should at least compensate me so I can get some new ones."
"That's fair," Ophelia asked, "How much?"
"Just accompany me to buy a new one later," Caspian was actually teasing Ophelia. He just wanted an excuse to spend time with her.
Ophelia hesitated for a moment, then agreed, "Okay, I need to go out later anyway."
"I'll go wash my face in the bathroom," Caspian stood up and looked around the house, "Where's the bathroom?"
"Over there," Ophelia pointed.
Caspian went straight to the bathroom to wash his face, casually observing the layout of the entire house and the items inside.
The bathroom only had one towel, one toothbrush, and one cup.
It was clear that only one person lived here.
Finnegan had previously said that Miss Sinclair had a fiancé, but it was obvious that he was bluffing, probably to prevent him from pursuing Miss Sinclair.
This further confirmed Caspian's suspicion that Finnegan was interested in Ophelia.
Caspian didn't actually plan to pursue Ophelia; he was just interested because Finnegan's attitude towards her was different from any woman he had ever met. He intentionally stirred things up to see what would happen.
Finnegan kept saying he wasn't interested in Ophelia, but he wanted to see Finnegan proven wrong. That would be satisfying.
After finishing her pasta, Ophelia washed the dishes and poured a glass of water for Caspian, "Mr. Hawthorne, I'm out of coffee, please have some warm water."
Caspian asked knowingly, "Miss Sinclair, do you live alone?"
"Yes," Ophelia replied, "I used to share the rent with a friend, but she moved out last month, so now I live alone. Mr. Hawthorne, wait a moment, let me change my shoes and we can go. Where do you want to buy clothes?"
"We'll decide on the way."
Soon, Ophelia was ready, and they both left the house.
Caspian was humorous and always cheerful, which made him comfortable to be around. Plus, she did owe him for spraying pasta all over his face, so it was only right that she didn't refuse.
In the car, Ophelia was still thinking about what Caspian had said earlier.
Did Finnegan really come to her community to see her? Was Finnegan really unresponsive to his girlfriend?
"Miss Sinclair, let's go to this men's clothing store," Caspian parked the car in front of a clothing store.
It was a budget clothing store on the street.
"Mr. Hawthorne, are you sure about this?" Ophelia felt that a person like Caspian wouldn't wear clothes from a common street store.
"As long as you buy it, Miss Sinclair, I will like it," Caspian said with a smile. "Let's go, this is the one."
