Chapter 395 A Desperate Gamble

No one wants to leave this world with regrets.
But there are too many things and people tug at one's heartstrings.
Dovie's life had been filled with suffering. Her only happiness was the two years she was married to Wilder and the brief time after giving birth to her daughter. From then on, her life was a series of hardships.

Seeing Dovie in such a state, Celia couldn't help but feel her eyes moisten. If Dovie were to die like this, Celia didn't want her to leave with regrets and could only promise to take care of her daughter.

"Thank you." Dovie whispered with a faint smile, her grip on Celia's hand gradually losing strength.

"Dovie!" Celia sensed something was wrong and urgently said, "Don't die now. You haven't seen your biological daughter yet. Hold on, just a little longer. You need to see her at least once, or you won't be at peace."

Celia tried to use this to stimulate Dovie's will to live.
Realizing the situation was dire, Celia called for the doctors again.
The doctors rushed in and began emergency treatment.

Celia stepped out, tears streaming down her face. Niamh, more concerned about what Dovie had said, anxiously asked Celia, "What did my mom tell you?"

"At a time like this, you're still asking that?" Celia snapped back, her tone harsh. "What I discussed with Dovie is none of your business. Show some respect."

Niamh's face turned pale with embarrassment.

Natalie interjected, "Celia, how can you say that? Niamh is just worried."

Celia retorted, "I think she's feeling guilty."
Niamh, indeed feeling guilty, dared not respond.

Sensing the tension, Jude grabbed Celia's arm. "Say no more. Everyone's anxious about Dovie."

Celia scoffed, "Of course she's anxious. The power of attorney isn't fully signed yet."
Niamh didn't dare challenge Celia, and Natalie remained silent.

Doctors and medical staff continuously moved in and out of the ICU, doing everything they could to save Dovie.

Meanwhile, in France, Ophelia was waiting at the police station to pick up Finnegan. She had been sitting there for a long time.
Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her chest and an inexplicable sadness.
Clutching her chest, Ophelia had a gut feeling that something bad had happened.

'Could something have gone wrong with Finnegan's case?' She thought.

Ophelia had been waiting for the video of Mary's retraction to spread quickly. Only then did she bring a lawyer to the police station to bail out Finnegan.
With new evidence proving Finnegan's innocence, the police had no right to detain him any longer.

Morgan was cunning. He hadn't lured Ophelia to his territory. Now that the case had taken a turn, he didn't dare show up.

The officials were also under pressure. Ophelia had stirred up the media, brought in a lawyer with evidence, and was waiting at the police station, putting immense pressure on them.
After four hours of waiting, with no sign of Finnegan being released, Ophelia grew anxious.

She stood up and told Tate, "Go to the underground casino again. We need to see Morgan."

Tate replied, "I'll get the car."

The police station was a twenty-minute drive from the casino.
As soon as Ophelia appeared at the underground casino, someone immediately reported to Morgan.

Morgan was surprised to hear that Ophelia had come again. He hadn't expected her to dare return, piquing his interest. "Bring her in."

Ophelia walked in alone, with Tate being stopped outside.
Morgan, sitting on the sofa, looked at the stunning and solitary Ophelia. He felt both an evil desire and a grudging admiration for her.

"You dare come alone to see me, Ophelia. You have courage."

"Morgan, you are a businessman. You know how to weigh the pros and cons. Do you think that my husband and I are more important, or is your survival in France more important? You can make that judgment."

Ophelia's expression was cold, her tone firm. "I hope you release my husband quickly. Otherwise, I will have no choice but to give you a bigger gift. I'll let the whole world see how despicable your country is, trying to make my husband betray our country for your benefit."

Morgan's expression changed slightly. "What evidence do you have?"

"Release my husband, and this will just be a small slander case. We can each take a step back. If you don't, it will be a fight to the death. If I don't walk out of here in ten minutes, the conspiracy to frame my husband will be known to everyone in the world." Ophelia glanced at her watch. "You have eight minutes left to decide."
After boss's baby, she Escape
