Chapter 504 Night Owl Failure

Hearing that phrase ‘being framed’, whether it was an illusion or not, Deacon felt like Finnegan was talking about him.

Deacon took a sip of his drink, crossed his legs, and chuckled. "You still believe in what the fortune tellers say."

"Sometimes you have to believe," Finnegan said mysteriously. "Before I met my wife, the fortune teller said I would definitely get married at thirty, and sure enough, I did get married. Later, the fortune teller said I would be set up by someone. Guess what? There was a traitor in the family, and I was indeed set up."

Every word from Finnegan seemed light and casual, but each one struck Deacon, making his heart pound.

If one just heard that, what Finnegan said was ordinary, but if one took it seriously, then there was a deeper meaning.

Deacon smirked. "Do you have a clear conscience? Have you done anything wrong?"

Finnegan pondered for a moment, genuinely reflecting. Then, with a piercing gaze, he stared at Deacon and said, "No."

That words stirred a strong sense of resentment in Deacon's eyes.

Indeed, over the past ten years, Finnegan had long forgotten that he had once caused the death of a couple.

Deacon hinted. "Perhaps your memory is failing you. You may have done things and forgotten them. Actually, I also believe in fate. I believe in settling debts and paying back what is owed, even if it means an eye for an eye."

Finnegan observed Deacon closely and naturally didn’t miss the hatred in Deacon's eyes.

He didn't owe Deacon money.

He certainly didn't owe him his life either.

Where did Deacon's hatred stem from?

Over the years, Finnegan had unintentionally offended people, but Deacon, this person, was a stranger to Finnegan.

Finnegan took a sip of his drink, set it down, and said, "I know what I have done. In this lifetime, apart from owing my parents and wife and daughters, I don't owe anyone money or my life. However, not long ago, there was a death in this club. Someone was pushed off the rooftop. Who will repay that life?"

Deacon coldly smirked. He didn't believe Finnegan's words, as no one would admit to causing someone's death.

"Are you talking about someone named Blackwood?" Deacon pretended to have just heard about it and said, "I heard about it. Hadn’t the culprit been caught?"

"Somebody was arrested, and the culprit turned out to be a staff member of this club." Finnegan stared at Deacon, suggesting, "By the way, the culprit's ex-wife suddenly came into money after the culprit was caught. She bought a house. Could he be taking the fall for someone else?"

Deacon chuckled. "How would I know about that? But the phrase 'scapegoat' has a deeper meaning for you."

It was Finnegan who had the driver take the fall years ago.

Both were testing each other, but Finnegan truly didn't understand Deacon's intentions.

Though Deacon's words carried hidden meanings, Finnegan couldn't grasp their full extent.

Regardless, if Deacon wanted to play hardball, Finnegan was ready to play along.

Finnegan returned home very late.

Ophelia had already coaxed Warmie to sleep, and seeing them asleep warmed Finnegan's heart.

As long as Ophelia and Warmie were well, Finnegan felt everything was worthwhile, no matter how tired he was outside.

That was the wisdom of a married man.

Finnegan was about to take a shower when Warmie, lying in Ophelia's arms, suddenly woke up, opened her eyes, and reached out her little hand, wanting Finnegan to pick her up.

Warmie's gesture melted Finnegan's heart.

Finnegan carefully lifted Warmie, not wanting to wake Ophelia.

To ensure Ophelia slept well, he carried Warmie outside the room.

Warmie was hungry and wanted to drink milk powder. At night, Warmie was lively, trying to speak.

No matter what Finnegan said, Warmie was excited, waving her limbs, listening attentively in Finnegan's arms, even laughing as if she understood everything.

"My darling is so good." Finnegan was in a particularly good mood, kissing Warmie's cheek. "When you can talk, tell me what you want, and I'll get it for you."

Warmie's current behavior warmed Finnegan's heart. It's said that children warm your heart when they're young and drive you crazy when they grow up, but Finnegan felt that Warmie would always be wonderful.

Finnegan played with Warmie in the living room for a long time. Warmie refused to sleep, and Finnegan joked. "Warmie, do you want to be the champion of staying up late? Staying up late isn't good. You'll get dark circles in the future. Girls should sleep early to look beautiful. You're a girl, you know that, right?"

This remark made Ophelia, who had just come to find her daughter after waking up, laugh. "Because of Warmie, I really have dark circles now. I have to admit I've completely failed at staying up late."
After boss's baby, she Escape
