Chapter 302 Forever First

Niamh's smile frozed.
Rhodes said, "Sorry, I didn't know you can't speak French."
Rhodes sincerely apologized as she was just used to speaking French.
In Niamh's eyes, Rhodes was deliberately embarrassing her in front of so many people.
More importantly, Ophelia saw her embarrassment, and she must have mocked in her heart.
Even though Ophelia sat there without saying a word, Niamh still held a grudge against her.
Niamh looked uncomfortable as she said, "I've been back to the country for so long so I've temporarily forgotten how to say it."
The explanation was not convincing enough.
How could you forget what you have learned?
Other people's eyes were filled with mocker and they truly looked down on Niamh, who was sitting at the same table.
Someone explained to Rhodes, "This Parks Corporation's heiress, who returned to the Parks Family only ten years ago, had been missing for over a decade. Rhodes, you just returned to the country, and there were many things you were not clear about. You would gradually learn about them in the future. President Natalie spent a lot of money on her, sending her abroad for education. It's just that President Natalie probably didn't even know that these qualifications were all fake."
Another person chuckled and replied, "Niamh, you should know that you only appear to be wise on the surface."
"She definitely didn't know. Before she joined the Parks Family, she was just a regular person in a slump." Another one added.
These people openly mocked Niamh without any reservation, due to their family background.
Niamh was so angry that her face looked terrible, and someone even compared Ophelia to her.
"Ophelia was self-taught, fluent in pure French. We all felt inferior to her, while some people couldn't learn it even if they spent money. Talent is something not everyone possesses." Someone talked.
Niamh felt even worse when she heard that she was not as good as Ophelia, her face turning even paler.
Ophelia thought to herself that she had offend Niamh even if she did nothing at all.
Ophelia clearly felt the hostile gaze from Niamh, which meant that the animosity between them deepened.
Ophelia quietly sipped on her juice, occasionally exchanging glances with Finnegan nearby while avoiding looking at Niamh's face.
'Niamh wasn't respected by these people, but this had nothing to do with me. They shouldn't keep mocking her just because she was weak.’ Ophelia thought.
However, Ophelia also admired Niamh. Despite being mocked like that, she was able to sit down calmly.
Ophelia took a sip of juice and noticed the waiter standing not far away, constantly looking in their direction.
After Rhodes took a sip of red wine, the waiter seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and walked away.
Ophelia frowned, feeling a bit off, but she didn't dwell on it. At a birthday banquet like this, no one could harm Rhodes.
"I'll go to the restroom for a moment," Ophelia said. She didn't want to see Niamh, so she made an excuse and walked away.
Rhodes smiled and said, "Ophelia, you're back early. Later, we'll cut the cake together."
"Okay." Ophelia smiled and left the banquet. Nearby, Finnegan, who had been keeping an eye on Ophelia, also made an excuse to leave his seat.
Finnegan caught up with Ophelia in the sky garden, pulled her into his arms, and kissed her forehead. "Are you feeling upset?"
He thought Ophelia's departure was due to unhappiness.
"No, it's just that sitting for too long made me feel uncomfortable, so I came out for a walk." Ophelia looked around, but no one approached. She gathered up the courage and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Have you been drinking? Just now, I saw them all eager to marry their daughters to you. I even heard someone placing bets on when we would get divorced."
"I had a drink." Finnegan chuckled lightly. "They were a step behind as I have been yours already. Who placed the bet? I'll raise the stakes and the host might go bankrupt."
In the midst of the conversation, Finnegan gently patted Ophelia's belly, saying, "The little rascal is quite well-behaved."
Ophelia's belly was slightly bulging, and through her skin, Finnegan could feel the baby. His face softened a lot.
"You keep talking about Little Lucky Star every day." Ophelia pretended to be jealous. "Now that we have a baby, am I in second place?"
"You will always be the first." Finnegan lightly pecked Ophelia's lips. His masculine scent enveloped her, causing her heart to race and her cheeks to blush.
"Stop. What if someone sees us." Ophelia touched her flushed cheeks. "I have to go in now. Rhodes asked me to come in later to help cut the cake."
Ophelia crouched down and escaped from his arms.
Finnegan stood still, watching her departing figure, his eyes filled with tenderness.
Ophelia returned to the banquet but did not find Rhodes. After asking around, she learned that Rhodes had gone to the guest room to rest.
At that moment, Ophelia caught sight of Niamh heading towards the guest room as well. She decided to be cautious and followed along.
After boss's baby, she Escape
