Chapter 715 The Whole Family Supports
Caspian realized he needed to clarify,"What I'm trying to say is, Ophelia isn't like other women. If she were, she'd have her own needs and wants. It's like when folks are hungry, they gotta grab a bite. If they're not eating at home, well, they must've found something to munch on elsewhere."
After that, he suddenly realized he had misspoken.
The more he talked, the worse it got, making it sound like Finnegan was being cheated on.
Caspian quickly tried to fix it, "Finnegan, that's not what I meant. I'm just bad with words. You know I wasn't great in school."
Finnegan didn't say anything, but Caspian's words had hit home.
A bold suspicion crept into Finnegan's mind. 'Could Lily have fallen for someone else?' he wondered.
The more he thought about it, the more agitated he became. He couldn't believe he might be losing Ophelia. It would be a joke if word got out.
"I'm heading back," Finnegan said with a stern face, ready to leave.
Caspian regretfully slapped his own mouth, realizing he'd caused trouble once more.
But then he thought about how it was impossible for Lily to cheat, and he felt relieved.
Caspian didn't eat either and got up to leave. Just as he got home, Raymond showed up.
Caspian was surprised but remembered that Tate was Raymond's sister. He immediately put on a welcoming smile and invited him in. "Raymond, come in. What's up?"
Raymond, with a blank expression, said, "I won't come in. I'm just here to inform you that Tate is getting out of prison the day after tomorrow."
Thinking about Caspian's shady past and his reputation, Raymond wished he could break Caspian's legs.
Hearing that Tate was getting out, Caspian couldn't contain his joy. "I'll definitely be there the day after tomorrow. Did Tate ask you to inform me? Please tell her that I'll be there."
"Caspian," Raymond warned seriously, "if you dare to betray Tate or be unfaithful, don't blame me for being harsh."
Caspian raised his hand and swore, "If I betray Tate, let me..."
"We're all men here, cut the crap," Raymond snorted coldly. "You better behave yourself."
With that, Raymond left.
Thinking about Tate's release and the fact that she had specifically asked Raymond to inform him, Caspian was overjoyed.
He decided to give Tate a surprise. Her release was a rebirth, marking the beginning of their relationship. Such an important day called for a celebration.
Raymond returned home to find Eugene and Barbara still busy, too excited to sleep.
Passing by their room, Raymond knocked and entered. "Barbara, Eugene, still not asleep?"
Barbara said, "We can't sleep. Your dad and I are planning the welcome-back party."
Eugene said, "Raymond, when Tate gets out, we should go early. Is it at 8 AM?"
"Yes, 8 AM," Raymond said. "There's someone else who will be going. I wanted to let you know in advance."
"Who?" Eugene asked. "Who else knows about Tate's imprisonment? A friend of Tate's?"
Raymond succinctly said, "A male friend."
Eugene and Barbara, being smart, immediately understood. It was a boyfriend.
Barbara was surprised. "Who? When did Tate get a boyfriend?"
Eugene also asked, "Who is he, and how does he treat Tate?"
Raymond said, "You both know him. It's Caspian. He'll be there to pick up Tate the day after tomorrow."
"Why him?" Barbara frowned. "Caspian has a bad reputation. What does Tate see in him?"
Eugene also frowned. "Really?"
"Tate told me to give Caspian the heads up. It's their deal, you know? Tate's moving on, leaving the past behind. It's cool she's getting to date like a regular girl. If she's into someone, they can't be all that bad. And if Caspian even thinks about messing with Tate, she'd kick him to the curb in a heartbeat, no doubt,"Raymond said.
Raymond spoke up for Tate, not wanting her to be put in an awkward situation later.
Eugene and Barbara exchanged a glance. Barbara said, "You're right. It's not easy for Tate to take this first step. We should support her. If Caspian dares to bully Tate, we won't be easy to deal with."
Eugene said, "That's true. We should support her. Tate has suffered a lot. This is a good thing. I'll check out this Caspian tomorrow."
They chatted in the room, completely unaware of Karen outside the door.
