Chapter 537 Having Nothing at All
Ophelia could only pray in her heart that Finnegan would hold on and keep his chastity until she found him.
While Ophelia was investigating Nine, Niamh had already secured her visa and was ready to take Finnegan out of City N and abroad at any moment.
Niamh hadn't visited Finnegan in the past few days. It wasn't because she was cautious or aware that the police were onto her. She was simply waiting for news from Natalie.
After confronting Natalie, she thought Natalie would commit suicide for her. However, it had been days, and there was still no news.
Niamh was getting anxious.
Before leaving City N, she planned to liquidate all the assets Natalie had handed over to her. She called Jesse, but his phone was off.
Niamh was furious. She hadn't realized something was wrong yet. She was just angry that Jesse wasn't on standby.
She drove to Jesse's place and knocked on the door for a long time, but no one answered.
At this point, Niamh started to panic a little. Thinking back, she realized she hadn't seen Jesse for several days since she last drove him away.
Usually, Jesse was like a fly buzzing around her. 'Why has he been so quiet these past few days?' she thought.
Niamh then went to the company. She had previously instructed Jesse to move the company headquarters back to City N.
When she arrived, she found the place deserted and the doors locked.
Niamh had rented two floors of this office building for the company. 'Where had everyone gone in just a few days?' she thought.
Niamh called Jesse again, and this time he answered. She immediately spoke in a harsh tone, "Jesse, where the hell have you been? I'm at the company, and no one's here. It's not a holiday. Why is everyone off?"
"Niamh, the company has gone bankrupt. Didn't you see the internal notice? I already filed for bankruptcy on your behalf," Jesse said. "I've dismissed all the employees."
To Niamh, this was a bolt from the blue.
"Jesse, how dare you file for bankruptcy without my permission? I'm the legal representative of the company, and how could it go bankrupt?" Niamh was furious. "Where are you? Get over here right now."
Niamh was still arrogant, using a commanding tone.
However, Jesse didn't listen to her at all and hung up the phone.
Niamh was so angry she wanted to smash her phone but held back and called Jesse again.
She called several times, but Jesse didn't answer.
Jesse was at CC Club, letting his phone ring on the table, feeling a great sense of satisfaction.
Niamh had always bossed him around, but now, this feeling of being in control gave Jesse immense pleasure.
After Niamh called him five times, Jesse sent her a message: [CC Club.]
Sure enough, within half an hour, Niamh appeared in front of him.
When Niamh showed up, Jesse's lips curled into a smug smile.
"Jesse, what happened to the company? How could it go bankrupt? My mom's house, car, and other assets have all been mortgaged?"
On her way over, Niamh had checked and found that not only had the company been dissolved, but all the assets Natalie had left her were also mortgaged.
In other words, Niamh now had nothing but the clothes and accessories she was wearing.
Jesse said, "Niamh, you didn't manage the company, so you don'tknow its situation. Even when your mom was still around, the company was losing money. I had no choice but to sell it to pay off the debts."
"That's nonsense, impossible." Niamh was furious. "Jesse, don't think you can fool me just because I don't understand business. My mom said the company was doing well, and I'd never run out of money in my lifetime."
"Times have changed." Jesse remained seated on the couch, legs crossed, no longer subservient to Niamh.
Jesse had been in charge of everything in the company. Niamh knew nothing and only showed up to sign documents when needed.
Because of this, Jesse could manipulate the company, sell it, and mortgage all of Niamh's assets under the guise of debt repayment.
"Jesse, you bastard." Niamh was so angry she threw her bag at Jesse.
Jesse caught it and pushed Niamh onto the couch. In the deafening music, no one noticed what was happening in their booth.
"Niamh, don't be mad. I'll take care of you," Jesse said, looking down at Niamh with a sinister smile. "As long as you behave, I'll make sure you live well."
Even Niamh, as foolish as she was, realized that Jesse had betrayed her. She sat on the couch and screamed in despair, "Jesse, I'm going to sue you."
