Chapter 17 Their Friendship Ends
Seraphina nervously checked her bag. Even a small flaw could depreciate the value of a limited-edition designer bag. She didn't know how to maintain a designer bag, so she tried wiping it with a tissue, which only made the bag dirtier.
"You owe me a new bag," Seraphina said franticly as she grabbed the waiter. "You dirtied my bag. It's a gift from my boyfriend, worth over 80 thousand. See? It's LV."
Seraphina kept emphasizing the price of the bag.
However, the waiter retorted, "I've never heard of LV, but rich people would never eat here. Your bag is obviously fake. You're trying to scam me, aren't you? No rich man would date a woman ugly like you!"
Those words hit a nerve for Seraphina.
"It's not fake!" Seraphina grabbed the waiter fiercely. "You pay for my bag! Let me talk to your boss!"
Ophelia intervened, "Seraphina, calm down..."
"It's not your bag, so it's easy for you to say. It's very expensive! It's from Mr. Abbott..." Seraphina almost slipped up but corrected herself in time. "It's a holiday gift from my boyfriend. I'm your friend! Why are you taking the stranger's side? Are you jealous that I'm dating someone rich? You're prettier than me, but you're not as lucky, so you're jealous, aren't you?"
Ophelia hadn't even said anything. Although the bag wasn't hers, she was neither planning to let Seraphna be magnanimous nor siding with the waiter. She just wanted Seraphina to calm down.
Ophelia was taken back by Seraphina's overreaction. Seraphina used to be timid and avoid arguing with others all the time, but now, she was totally different.
"Seraphina, what are you talking about?" Ophelia got angry too. "Ever since you entered this room, you've been complaining about everything. Who are you putting on airs for? You are rich now, so you look down on your old friends, right?"
Ophelia had been holding back for long enough.
"OK, OK, stop fighting." Magnus tried to mediate. "You're best friends. Why are you fighting? Seraphina, apologize to Ophelia."
"Magnus, you take Ophelia's side every time. You also look down on me, don't you?" Seraphina said emotionally. "You guys think I only deserve a poor life, don't you?"
At this moment, it seemed that she could be ignited by anything.
"Seraphina, if you don't want to hang out with us, then leave," Ophelia said angrily.
"I don't want to come in the first place," Seraphina replied haughtily. "Don't invite me again, because I won't come."
Then, Seraphina grabbed her bag and left. It was the first time she had argued so fiercely with Ophelia. Actually, she did this on purpose to cut ties with Ophelia.
Only by breaking off with Ophelia could she ensure that her masquerading would remain undiscovered.
After Seraphina left, Ophelia drank a glass of ice water to cool down. "I have no idea what got into her. She gets a boyfriend and changes into a different person."
Magnus was also surprised. "Ophelia, I think Seraphina was arguing with you on purpose. What happened between you two? You used to be so close, and now this."
Ophelia was puzzled. "Ever since she got a boyfriend, she's been like this. She just ignores my calls and messages. It feels like she wants to cut ties with me."
"Dating someone isn't the reason, but the man she's dating is," Magnus said. "Do you know where Seraphina moved to? I'll investigate."
"I don't know. She doesn't tell me anything," Ophelia replied. "Did you drive? Seraphina just left. We might be able to follow her."
