Chapter 706 Dreaming of Ophelia
People needed to look ahead.
Finnegan helped gather some fishing nets and casually asked, "How was the catch this time?"
"If we're lucky, one trip can cover a year's expenses. If not, it just barely keeps us afloat," Dylan replied. "Last time there was a typhoon, we couldn't go out for months. It was a wasted year."
"Ever thought about moving to Yorkhaven?" Finnegan asked. "I can cover all your expenses there."
Dylan responded with a smile, "People need to rely on themselves. Only by working hard can we have food to eat. I appreciate your kindness."
With that, Dylan carried the fishing nets back into the house.
Warmie was still awake, playing in the living room with Lily. Gavin also liked Warmie and often used things to amuse her.
Seeing them return, Lily said to Finnegan, "The room is ready. You and Warmie will sleep upstairs tonight."
It was a two-story house with an attic and rooms upstairs. Dylan had cleared out a room for storage after the last typhoon.
Hearing Lily arranged for Finnegan to stay upstairs, Gavin instinctively glanced at Lily but said nothing.
Finnegan, being an easygoing guest, naturally didn't mind. "No problem."
He then asked Dylan, "Where should I put the fishing nets?"
Dylan took them from him. "Just give them to me. You take Warmie and go rest. It's cold, so get some rest early."
Winters by the sea were colder than inland, so Finnegan took Warmie upstairs to rest.
Lily led the way, and when they reached the top, she opened a room and turned on the light, saying, "Here it is. Sorry, it's a bit simple, but I hope you don't mind."
Finnegan smiled warmly, "As long as you and Warmie are here, it's the happiest and warmest place for me. How could I mind?"
"I've prepared pajamas, towels, and toothbrushes," Lily said with a smile. "If Warmie's clothes aren't enough, we can buy more tomorrow."
"Alright, I'll take Warmie to wash up first. Ophelia, you should rest early too." Finnegan gave Lily a soft look.
After finding out about Ophelia's memory loss, Finnegan took it slow and gave her space.
Now that they were at the Cooper family house, it was even less likely they would connect.
"Okay, I'll head downstairs. Call me if you need anything." Lily smiled and said goodnight to Warmie before going downstairs.
The room wasn't big, with a 76-inch bed that looked new, probably bought not long ago.
The room was very clean, and the heater was on, making it warm and cozy.
As Finnegan stepped into the room holding Warmie, he felt an inexplicable sadness, as if something was gripping his heart tightly.
That feeling quickly passed, and before Finnegan could dwell on it, it was gone.
Finnegan placed Warmie on the bed, and Warmie suddenly said, "Mommy."
"Do you miss Mommy?" Finnegan stroked Warmie's cheek and said, "Mommy is just downstairs. If you miss her, you can have her come up anytime."
Warmie crawled a bit on the bed and then lay down quietly, which was unusual since she usually needed someone to coax her to sleep.
"Are you tired and want to sleep? Then we won't take a bath tonight. Let's just go to bed," Finnegan said. "Let's take off your coat and go to sleep."
"Sleepy time." Warmie nodded and sat up again.
Finnegan took off Warmie's clothes, leaving her in pajamas, and covered her with a blanket. "Sleepy time."
Warmie lay down and closed her eyes, looking so adorable.
After entering the room, aside from the initial sadness, Finnegan felt inexplicably at ease.
He decided not to take a bath either, given the cold weather. He changed into pajamas and lay down with Warmie.
To make it easier for Warmie to go to the bathroom at night, Finnegan left a night light on. He fell asleep shortly after lying down.
That night, he dreamed of Ophelia.
Since Ophelia's return, it was the first time he had dreamed of her.
In the dream, Ophelia was surrounded by a thick fog, smiling at him. "Honey, you're here."
"I'm here." Finnegan ran towards Ophelia in the fog.
