Chapter 553 Investigating Lloyd
Finnegan couldn't recuperate at home for the time being. With two extra people in the house, one strange and the other holding a grudge against Susan. So he instructed Ophelia, "Ophelia, keep an eye on the house."
"Don't worry, I will. When I left, I also told Mom to take good care of Warmie." Ophelia held Finnegan's hand and said, "Right now, I just hope you can see soon and get better. You're the backbone of this family. Warmie and I both need you."
Ophelia cheered Finnegan on, and the two faced the tough times together.
"Okay." Finnegan's thin lips curved slightly.
Even if the chances were slim, he wouldn't dampen Ophelia's confidence.
In the following days, Finnegan received treatment and recovered in the hospital.
Although he couldn't see, he still managed the company's affairs.
Linda commuted between the hospital and the company daily, and Ophelia gradually took on the responsibility of managing the company, offering advice and strategies.
Finnegan taught Ophelia while gradually letting her make decisions on her own, appointing her as the company's Vice President.
Though she was the Vice President, she had absolute authority to make all company decisions.
Ophelia became busy, juggling the hospital, the company, and home.
Lloyd was very fond of Warmie, and Ophelia often saw Lloyd playing with Warmie when she returned home.
Warmie was very happy. They say children are intuitive and can sense who treats them well.
Seeing how much Warmie liked Lloyd, Ophelia's guard gradually lowered.
Lloyd stayed at the old mansion, spending time with Warmie and chatting with Susan. This time, he seemed genuinely there for a family reunion.
Jude often took Lloyd out for walks, helping him integrate into new circles and explore City N.
In thirty years, City N had changed dramatically. Jude could tell Lloyd what each alley and street used to look like and when they were transformed.
Wilder had to return to Country F for some matters. Before leaving, he informed the police to expedite the investigation into who harmed Finnegan.
Even while receiving treatment in the hospital, Finnegan didn't just sit idly by.
To avoid worrying Ophelia, Finnegan never mentioned the investigation when she was around. As soon as Ophelia left the hospital, Caspian would come to see him.
Since Finnegan couldn't see, Caspian acted as his eyes, helping him handle matters outside.
One day.
After having lunch with Finnegan, Ophelia left for the company due to some urgent matters.
As soon as she left, Caspian entered the ward. "Finnegan, the person who killed Deacon is likely Tate."
Since Finnegan had asked Caspian for help, he naturally told him about Tate's identity.
Finnegan wasn't surprised and asked, "Can you get in touch with Tate?"
"No, I can't." Caspian was a bit frustrated with this outcome. "Finnegan, do you think something happened to Tate? Ever since the day Deacon died, Tate has been missing as if she vanished."
Reflecting on the past, Caspian remembered the last time he saw Tate at the Abbott family. Tate had seemed a bit off.
At that time, Tate was probably preparing to kill Deacon.
Finnegan asked, "Have you prepared the information about the Moonlight Gate assassins that I asked for?"
Caspian said with difficulty, "Finnegan, all the exposed ones are already dead. Now, even Tate is out of reach. I suspect Moonlight Gate might have dealt with Tate themselves. If Tate's identity was exposed, Moonlight Gate wouldn't let her off."
As an assassin, revealing one's true identity was a death sentence.
The assassins of Moonlight Gate never showed their true faces.
They hid among the crowd, possibly as an old lady crossing the street, a bus conductor, a socialite in high society, or an unremarkable waiter, making them impossible to guard against.
Finnegan sighed, "I can't rely on you too much."
Caspian scratched his head. "Finnegan, if you ask me to investigate any girl's information, I can do it quickly. But asking me to investigate Moonlight Gate assassins is too difficult. Even international police don't have useful information."
"Ophelia went to the company and won't be back for a while. Change clothes. Take me out."
"Finnegan, where do you want to go?"
"Lloyd's place in City N." Finnegan had already found out where Lloyd stayed before returning to the Abbott family's old mansion.
