Chapter 752 Moving the Grave

The next day, Lily took Susan to the cemetery. They bought flowers from a roadside shop and took a cab there.

On regular days, the cemetery was always quiet, with almost no one around.

It was Susan's first time in front of the tombstone. When Lily said, "This is it," Susan couldn't speak; she choked up and tears streamed down her face.

"Ophelia, Ophelia," Susan cried uncontrollably, holding onto the tombstone.

Lily, worried Susan might cry too much, tried to comfort her, "Hey, hey, please don't cry. If Ophelia saw you like this, it wouldn't be cool. She wouldn't be at peace."

"Lily, why'd this have to happen?" Susan cried, her voice full of pain. "Ophelia was so young. Why couldn't it have been me instead?"

She had managed to control her emotions before, but seeing the tombstone broke her.

It took Susan a long time to calm down.

Lily helped Susan sit beside the tombstone. Susan refused to leave; she just wanted to spend more time with Ophelia.

Since Susan wouldn't leave, Lily stayed with her. "If you're this sad, imagine how much more heartbroken Finnegan would be if he knew."

Ophelia had been so important to Finnegan; Lily was seriously worried about him.

Susan wiped her tears. "Yeah, you're right," she said, her voice shaky. "How could Finnegan ever deal with this?"

Looking at the unmarked tombstone, Susan felt even more guilty that Ophelia was buried in a foreign land.

Susan said, "Lily, I want to move Ophelia's grave. I want to take her ashes back to Yorkhaven. That's where she grew up."

"Of course," Lily said. "You can move the grave anytime you want. I also hope Ophelia's ashes can return to Yorkhaven. It's so cruel for her to die in a foreign land."

"Thank you."

Susan held Lily's hand. From the beginning, she had hoped Lily was Ophelia.

Moving the grave would take time, so Susan needed to stay here for a few more days.

After nearly two hours at the cemetery, Susan finally agreed to leave. As they were leaving, Susan touched the tombstone and said, "Ophelia, I'm going back now. Once I have everything arranged, I'll take you home. Don't worry about Warmie; she's doing well. I'm sorry, I owe you and the Parks family so much."

At this point, Susan's voice choked again.

Susan loved Ophelia not just because she was Finnegan's wife but also because she was George's granddaughter, Susan's beloved. Seeing all of George's descendants gone broke Susan's heart.

Now, the Parks family only had Natalie left, who was in a vegetative state. Niamh had been executed, Dovie was murdered, and Ophelia had died in an accident.

Thinking of this made Susan even more distressed.

"Let's go back," Lily said, supporting Susan and urging her to leave.

On the way back, Susan was listless, looking sickly, and didn't say a word. She would occasionally shed tears whenever she thought of Ophelia.

Once they got home, Lily urged Susan to rest immediately, fearing something might happen.

Meanwhile, Tate and Caspian had also arrived in Oceanview City. Tate didn't go directly to the Cooper family. Before coming, she had already gathered some information and went straight to the Cooper family's neighbor.

Investigating from a neighbor's perspective would be more genuine.

Tate naturally wouldn't recklessly inquire and instead posed as someone from the Census Bureau, asking for information and bringing some gifts.

The neighbor was a man in his forties named Joe Green, who lived alone and made a living by fishing.

It was Caspian's first time doing this, so he didn't dare to speak and just followed Tate like an assistant. Tate calmly started a conversation with Joe.

"Hey Joe, how long you been livin' here?" Tate asked. "Anything we can do to spruce things up around here? Hit us up if you do."

"Been here about five years now," Joe said, grinning. "And honestly, the government's been on point lately. Can't complain."

Tate got to the point. "By the way, do you know where the family next door went? I knocked on their door earlier, but no one was home. How many people live there?"

"Oh, you mean Dylan's family? Dylan can go out to sea now. There are only two people in his family, and I haven't seen his daughter for more than half a year," Joe said. "Dylan's daughter didn't go out much before either and was often hospitalized because of her heart condition. His family is under a lot of pressure. Otherwise, Dylan wouldn't be working so hard to make money. Last year, he even borrowed a few thousand dollars from me for his daughter's surgery."

Hearing this, Caspian and Tate exchanged glances.
