Chapter 489 The Puppet Master
Jesse's gaze was fixed on Warmie in the baby carriage. As if losing his sanity, he reached out to pick her up.
"What are you doing? If you don't leave, I'll call someone." The nanny panicked and grabbed Jesse's hand.
Children sleep lightly and are easily disturbed. The commotion woke up Warmie, who opened her eyes and looked at Jesse with clear and pure eyes, stirring compassion in Jesse's heart.
When Warmie suddenly smiled at Jesse, Jesse smiled back. Children have such magical powers. Their smiles are very infectious.
Warmie was happy, waving her hands and playing with herself, kicking her little feet randomly. She was very cheerful.
Following suit, Jesse smiled. The nanny quickly picked up Warmie, afraid that Jesse would take her away.
It was only then that Jesse came to his senses, realizing what he had almost done. Jesse quickly said, "I'm sorry, I lost control just now. My daughter fell ill not long ago, and when I saw this child so cute, it reminded me of my daughter."
Jesse made up an excuse to dispel the nanny's vigilance and suspicion.
Upon hearing this, considering this was a high-end club and the person in front of her was well-dressed and did not look like a bad person, the nanny sympathetically said, "It's okay."
The nanny didn't want to stay there, so she picked up Warmie and went to the next room.
As Warmie was carried away, she smiled at Jesse again.
After the nanny left, Jesse regretted his actions. He had almost harmed such a pure child.
Jesse left the place and received a call from Niamh.
"Jesse, where are you? A business partner said the goods were not right. You need to come back and handle it."
After taking over Natalie's business, Niamh had yet to learn how to manage it, and this batch of wine produced was all returned due to quality issues.
Jesse said, "I'll be back soon."
After hanging up, Jesse started the car and left.
Ophelia and Finnegan arrived at New York Airport at ten o'clock at night.
Ophelia missed Warmie too much, so after returning to New York, she went directly with Finnegan to the Abbott family's old mansion to see Warmie.
The nanny did not tell Celia about Jesse rushing into the room, so Ophelia naturally did not know.
The nanny didn't want to make a fuss and didn't think it was a big deal.
In the room, Ophelia saw the sleeping Warmie and couldn't help but hold her, pressing her face against hers and kissing her. "Warmie, Mommy misses you so much."
Finnegan also wanted to hold Warmie. "Two days apart, Warmie has grown a little taller."
Ophelia laughed, "Where's the exaggeration? Just two days, and she's grown taller?"
Finnegan said, "There have been some changes. She's grown a bit."
The changes in children are truly subtle, growing up right under your nose without you noticing.
Finnegan and Ophelia didn't wake up Warmie. It was too late. Ophelia held her for a while and then put her in bed.
Tonight, Finnegan and Ophelia stayed at the old mansion.
Since they returned suddenly, Oscar, who was staying in the backyard, had no idea Finnegan was back.
When Finnegan went up to the balcony to make a call, he could see Oscar sneaking out from the back door.
Glancing at the time, it was only ten o'clock, but Oscar was in a hurry. He was not afraid of being seen as he had something to do.
Finnegan quickly made a call to have someone follow Oscar closely.
After leaving the old mansion, Oscar got into a car at a nearby intersection.
This car was waiting there all along.
About half an hour later, Oscar arrived at a secluded riverside, with no one around except for a white car parked by the river. The car's lights were off, but there was a flickering light inside, the glow of a cigarette. One could see there was someone inside, but their features were unclear.
Oscar got out of the car and walked towards the white car, then got in. He respectfully called out, "Mr. Stone."
The person sitting in the car was Deacon.
Deacon took a puff of his cigarette and said, "I've arranged a car for you, parked in the parking lot next to your residence. You don't have to come pick it up every time. Be careful not to expose yourself."
In fact, Oscar had never driven a car since ten years ago when he hit someone with a car and developed a psychological shadow. He was even reluctant to drive a motorcycle.
"Mr. Stone, I don't have a driver's license, I can't drive." Oscar asked, "Mr. Stone, when should I teach Finnegan a lesson?"
Upon hearing that Oscar couldn't drive, Deacon was also surprised. A man in his twenties, a member of the Abbott family, not knowing how to drive! But Deacon didn't dwell on it. He flicked the cigarette ash and said, "I need your help now. Figure out a way to get the seal of Abbott's Corporation."
