Chapter 770 They Were Finally Together

Tate glanced at Finnegan, who was standing by Ophelia's tombstone, and her heart skipped a beat, sensing something amiss.

Lately, Finnegan had been quiet, praying for Ophelia and staying by her coffin.

He didn't cry anymore, but he didn't smile either—just a shell of himself.

People lined up to place flowers at Ophelia's grave, pausing briefly before moving on. The funeral wrapped up by ten in the morning.

Finally, Finnegan spoke. "Grandma, let everyone go home. I'll stay with Ophelia a bit longer," he told Susan, his voice hoarse from disuse.

Susan nodded, tears in her eyes, and asked Jude to escort everyone away.

People gradually left until only Lynn, Tate, and Caspian remained.

Warmie held Finnegan's hand and said, "Daddy, I love you."

Finnegan looked down and smiled slightly. "Warmie, Daddy and Mommy have always loved you very much."

He hoped Warmie would remember their love.

Warmie nodded. "Daddy, goodbye."

She waved, and Finnegan waved back, as if saying a final farewell.

Then he turned to Eli. "Eli, take Warmie home. You're her friend, and you should take care of her. I've talked to Francis. You'll stay with the Abbott family now and don't need to go back to the monastery. From now on, you're my son, Elias Abbott."

Lynn felt uneasy listening to Finnegan's words, sensing he was making final arrangements.

Eli nodded firmly. "I will."

It was a lifelong promise.

Eli took Warmie's hand and left with Susan and the others.

Finnegan watched Warmie disappear into the distance, feeling both reluctant and at peace.

Once Warmie was out of sight, Finnegan said to Lynn, "You all should go back too."

"Finnegan..." Lynn hesitated. "Don't do anything foolish. Ophelia wouldn't want you to."

Finnegan stayed silent, ignoring Lynn, and bent down to tidy Ophelia's grave, picking up some fallen leaves.

Caspian wanted to say something, but Tate pulled him away.

With Ophelia buried, Finnegan's wish was fulfilled. If he had made any decisions on his own, no one could stop him now.

As they left the cemetery, Tate said, "The grave next to Ophelia's is empty. I think Finnegan prepared it for himself."

"What?" Caspian was shocked. "Is Finnegan really going to follow Ophelia?"

"At this point, nothing Finnegan does would surprise me. Susan and the others see it too. The Finnegan we know is just a shell now."

The news of Ophelia's burial reached Lily in Oceanview City.

Standing by the hospital window, Lily felt a deep sadness and started crying without knowing why.

Dylan passed by and saw her. He didn't go in but a strange light flickered in his eyes before he walked away.

In the dim stairwell, Lily's doctor stood in the shadows. Dylan approached him. "I want to discharge my daughter."

The doctor smirked. "That's your call. You can handle the paperwork anytime."

"Thanks," Dylan said, leaving.

Night fell.

Finnegan stayed from dawn till dusk, sleeping in the empty grave next to Ophelia's. He lay there, looking at her tombstone. "Ophelia, it's dark now. Time to rest."

Sleeping beside her grave, he felt at peace.

He fell asleep and dreamed that Ophelia came to take him away.

"Ophelia, you're here," he mumbled.

In the dream, Ophelia emerged from the mist, and he walked towards her with a smile.

She took his hand, smiled brightly, and they walked into the mist together, eventually disappearing.

From that day on, Finnegan vanished. When the Abbott family returned to the cemetery the next day, the grave was empty.

Finnegan disappeared without a trace, and rumors spread that he had found Ophelia and they were living together somewhere unknown.

Some fishermen claimed to have seen Finnegan and Ophelia sailing on the sea.

Others said Finnegan had followed his beloved Ophelia to death.

Their love story continued to be told, making people believe in love again in this materialistic society.

Over the years, many media outlets interviewed the grown-up Warmie.

At night, Warmie stood on the terrace, looking up at the starry sky. She said, "Elias, I miss Mom and Dad."

Elias gently draped a coat over her shoulders and looked up at the stars with her. "Then let's go see them tomorrow."

Warmie said, "Okay."

Elias said, "Warmie, I don't want to be your brother anymore. I want to love you in a different way for the rest of my life."

Warmie turned to look at him and smiled. "Okay!"

After boss's baby, she Escape
