Chapter 501 Buying Finnegan's Life
When Tate heard that someone wanted Finnegan's life, she was shocked.
"Who wants Finnegan's life?"
"Tate, you’ve forgotten the rules of Moonlight Gate. Orders from the master cannot be disobeyed, and the employer's information cannot be disclosed." Anthony smiled. "I look forward to you completing the task."
Tate frowned. "I'm injured and can't take on the task. I will explain it to the master."
Anthony said, "Tate, even if you don't take action, the master will send someone else. Finnegan is still doomed to die."
In Moonlight Gate, Tate was not the most powerful assassin, but she was the only one who had never failed.
Tate knew that if someone from Moonlight Gate came, as Anthony said, the outcome would still be unchanged.
Unless the employer could cancel the contract. Tate really wanted to know who bought Finnegan's life from Moonlight Gate.
Tate asked, "How much is the employer paying, and how much can I get from this contract?"
"This is the cold-blooded Tate I know." Anthony sneered. "The other party is offering two million, and after it's done, you get fifty percent."
"Okay, I'll go back and tell the master that I'll take this contract," Tate said, holding her shoulder. "But not now."
"The employer has given a three-month deadline, enough time for you to heal," Anthony said meaningfully and then left.
After Anthony left, Tate sat by the bedside for a long time, and the breakfast that Caspian had bought had already gone cold.
"Tate." A familiar voice brought Tate back from her thoughts. It was Ophelia.
Caspian had informed Ophelia to come over because it was a bit inconvenient for a man to take care of Tate here.
"Where are you injured?" Ophelia was very nervous, holding Warmie in her arms.
Originally, Ophelia was taking Warmie to the Abbott family's old mansion. On the way, she received a call from Caspian and came over.
Warmie was adorable, making all worries disappear.
Tate couldn't help but reach out and touch Warmie's little chubby hand, saying to Ophelia, "It's okay. It's just a small injury on my back, nothing serious."
Tate was wearing clothes, and Ophelia couldn't see the wound. Seeing that Tate could still talk well and looked fine, she felt relieved.
Knowing that Tate was from Moonlight Gate and lived a life of bloodshed, Ophelia couldn't help but say, "Tate, have you ever thought about living a normal and simple life? You're a girl. Don't put yourself in danger. You can also find love like other girls, have your own career and hobbies, start a family, have children, and then watch them grow up. That's real happiness."
Ophelia thought that someone as outstanding as Tate could live a good life without let herself live in danger.
But Ophelia wasn't part of Tate's world. She didn't know what it meant to be unable to control one's fate.
Tate had always dreamed of the kind of life Ophelia described, but...
Tate didn't respond and looked at Ophelia who cared for her, unable to imagine that if Ophelia knew that one day she would take Finnegan's life, would she still care for her like this.
Once a mission was issued by Moonlight Gate, there was no turning back. If she failed, someone else would continue.
"Tate?" Ophelia called out again as she saw Tate lost in thought.
After experiencing so much, Ophelia learned to cherish the people around her. No matter what the future would hold, she must love the present and had no regrets.
Tate asked, "Have you or Finnegan offended anyone? Besides Niamh."
This was a rare question from Tate. According to Moonlight Gate's rules, they couldn't investigate the employer's information.
However, as the employer was able to contact Moonlight Gate, Niamh could be ruled out.
Ophelia was taken aback. Tate was injured. Why was she asking about any grievances between me, Finnegan, and someone else?' she thought.
Ophelia said, "Recently, we did offend someone, the behind-the-scenes boss of the CC club, named Deacon. Finnegan also didn't figure out any grudges with this person. Tate, why are you asking?"
'Deacon?' Tate pondered.
"Just asking casually." Tate planned to investigate Deacon privately.
Every employer who could place an order with Moonlight Gate was not simple. They had not only substantial funds but also had a certain amount of influence.
Seeing Tate being mysterious, Ophelia didn't press further. She stayed with Tate in the hospital until Caspian arrived, then she left.
Once Ophelia left, Tate insisted on leaving the hospital. Caspian couldn't stop her, and the doctor couldn't do anything either.
Caspian also had his insistence. "I saved you. I'm your lifesaver. You have to listen to me. You can leave the hospital, but you have to come back with me. You can't leave until you're fully healed."
"Impossible." Tate refused directly.
Caspian said, "What, afraid I'll ask you to marry me? With your cold demeanor, I'm not interested. If it weren't for Ophelia asking me to take care of you, I wouldn't bother."
Hearing that it was Ophelia's request, Tate walked back to Caspian's car. "Drive."
