Chapter 256 Finding Evidence
Ophe could naturally hear the bitterness in Seraphina's words. However, at this moment, she didn't want to discuss trivial matters with Seraphina. She only cared about where Magnus had gone.
Magnus was a softhearted person, and emotions were his biggest vulnerability. Being slandered by his biological father, he must be feeling devastated.
The car arrived at the bottom of the residential area, and Ophe parked the car and said, "Let's go in."
Seraphina looked at the residential area, which was really upscale and had good landscaping. It was no wonder it was worth more than ten million.
Ordinary people could work hard their whole lives and still might not be able to afford a house.
In Seraphina's opinion, if it weren't for Ophe marrying Finnegan, she probably wouldn't have been wealthy.
When they came out of the elevator, Ophe didn't rush to knock on the door but took out her phone.
Seraphina asked, "Which unit? Ophe, why are you playing with your phone at this time?"
"I'm recording. We might need it later," Ophe said as she opened the recording app. She continued, "Magnes might not be home."
"If he's not home, then what are we going to do?" Seraphina asked.
"If he's not home, Jett and Riley must be here." Ophe adjusted the recording settings, put her phone in her bag, and said, "Let's go see what's wrong with Riley. There must be a reason why they're accusing Magnus."
In fact, Ophe had a vague idea of why. Magnus was anxious and looking for her about the house this morning. It was highly likely that the trending topic this time was about the house.
Ophe arrived at the door and knocked.
She knocked for a long time before the door finally opened.
Riley stood fearfully at the door and said, "You're here to see Magnus, right? He's not home."
Riley didn't have any intention of letting them in.
Ophe said, "You must know what's going on online. Magnus has lost contact. Something likely happened to him. As his biological mother, aren't you worried?"
Riley dared not look into Ophe's eyes and repeated, "Magnus isn't home, and I don't know how to contact him. His phone is unreachable."
Seraphina exclaimed angrily, "You pushed him to this point. Of course, he turned off his phone and couldn't be reached."
Ophe didn't stop Seraphina and let her make a scene. They were playing the good cop, bad cop routine.
Riley said nervously, "Nobody forced him. Please leave. I'll notify you when Magnus comes back."
"Riley, can we see Serenity?" Ophe leaned against the door. "I have something to ask Serenity."
Riley blocked the door, clearly not allowing them to enter.
At that moment, Jett was smashing things in the room and shouting, "Is it that bastard Magnus's friend? Make them leave. He is a bastard. Nobody could come in and hurt Serenity. If anyone harms my daughter, I will fight them."
Ophe responded aggressively when she heard Jett's words, and she opened the door forcefully and walked in.
"This is my house, and You can't come in." Riley blocked the way.
"Ophe, you go in, I'll hold her back." Seraphina grabbed onto Riley and let Ophe enter.
Jett, a paralyzed person, posed no threat whatsoever.
Ophe scanned the room and quickly located Serenity's whereabouts.
Ophe turned the doorknob and saw Serenity sitting on the carpet, playing with a puzzle.
"So, you must be Serenity," Ophe approached, trying to keep a gentle tone so as not to scare the child. "I am a friend of your uncle's. I have a question for you. "Is your uncle treating you well?"
Serenity had no idea what was happening, but when she heard Ophe's question, she instinctively nodded and replied, "Yes."
Ophe saw a glimmer of hope and continued. "Then please tell me, has your uncle ever mistreated you?"
"No," Serenity replied. "My uncle is very nice to me. He buys me toys, tells me stories, and even praises me."
Ophe coaxed further, "How does your uncle usually praise you?"
In the neighboring room, Jett sensed that the situation was not good. He yelled from his room, "Serenity, don't talk to strangers! They're bad people. Come here quickly!"
Jett could not move, so he could only call out to try to stop Serenity.
Meanwhile, Seraphina restrained Riley firmly and prevented her from intervening.
Serenity became cautious of Ophe. Without uttering a word, she stood up and wanted to find Jett.
"Serenity, I'm not a bad person." Ophe held her back and prevented her from finding Jett. To elicit information, Ophe locked the door.
Serenity was just a little child. She saw Ophe lock the door, and she started crying.
