Chapter 707 A Well-Intentioned Lie

Downstairs, Lily had just tidied up when Gavin knocked on the door. "Lily, hit the hay yet?"

"Yeah, just a sec." Lily threw on a coat and opened the door. "What's up? It's already midnight."

It was freezing outside, so Gavin stepped in and shut the door behind him. "Lily, why'd you put Finnegan upstairs?"

Lily shot back, "There are only three rooms in the house. They had to stay there."

Gavin looked worried. "But that room was used by... you know who."

"Isn't that a good thing?" Lily said. "You should get some sleep. You have to go out to sea with Dylan tomorrow. I won't be here for long."

"Alright then." Gavin hesitated. "Lily, when are you gonna tell Finnegan about... that?"

Lily paused. "If we can keep it a secret forever, that'd be best. It's what she wanted."

Gavin sighed. "Honestly, I think Finnegan's pretty great. He doesn't act all high and mighty. And Warmie is adorable."

"Enough about this. Go back to your room and sleep."

"Alright then." Gavin left.

Lily closed the door and glanced upstairs. Memories of falling into the sea flooded her mind.

Those were memories she couldn't shake off.

The next day, Finnegan had a good night's sleep and woke up around nine with Warmie.

Warmie didn't wake up to use the bathroom all night and slept soundly until now.

Finnegan found it amazing since he hadn't slept so well in a long time.

After dressing Warmie, they went downstairs. Lily had made breakfast. "Did you sleep well last night?"

"Very well." Finnegan, holding Warmie, walked over. "Where are they?"

"They went out to sea," Lily said. "Let's eat first. I just made something simple. After breakfast, we can take a walk by the beach."

Compared to the Abbott family's breakfast, it was simple but still nutritious.

The oatmeal was specially made for Warmie, who had a good appetite.

"Okay." Finnegan put Warmie in a chair and sat down to eat.

"I'll hold her and feed her." Lily loved taking care of Warmie.

Warmie suddenly kissed Lily. "Mommy."

"What a sweet little girl." Lily said with a smile, "Let's eat."

Finnegan watched the interaction between the two and felt very happy.

After breakfast, the three of them went for a walk by the beach.

Warmie wanted to walk by herself, toddling along and picking up shells.

While walking by the beach, they ran into Sierra.

This time, Lily didn't greet her. Sierra was with friends and, seeing Lily with someone, didn't interrupt.

At that moment, Lily needed to use the restroom, so Finnegan found a place to sit and wait with Warmie.

Seeing that Lily was not around, Sierra approached Finnegan and started asking, "Sir, the woman who was with you just now, what's her name? She looks familiar."

Actually, that last part was just a guess. Sierra wanted to confirm if it was the Lily she knew.

Finnegan noticed Sierra's local accent and, knowing they were close to the Cooper family, worried she might know about the real Lily's accident and that it would reach Dylan.

So Finnegan said, "Her name is Lily."

"Really, it's Lily?" Sierra muttered, "Why does she look different from before?"

Finnegan casually asked, "What's different?"

"She looks different," Sierra said curiously. "Did Lily get plastic surgery? She looks so pretty now. The last time Lily went out to sea, she disappeared, and then we heard she came back. How did she change so much?"

Finnegan didn't explain. Of course, she looked different. This wasn't the real Lily; it was his wife, Ophelia.

It seemed Gavin was right. The real Lily had an accident at sea, and to avoid shocking Dylan, they had Ophelia pretend to be Lily.

"She is Lily." Finnegan didn't reveal the truth. Seeing Lily return, he picked up Warmie and said to Sierra, "I gotta go."

With that, Finnegan walked towards Lily.

Lily saw Sierra and asked Finnegan, "What were you talking about with her? She's the owner of the grocery store."

"She said you look different from the old Lily." Finnegan said honestly, "Gavin told me everything. The real Lily passed away, and Dylan couldn't handle it, so you became Lily. It's a well-intentioned lie."
