Chapter 284: Complete Trust
The person on the other end of the line was Natalie.
She had learned from Dovie that Ophe was coming for an ultrasound check-up today and had already found out which doctor would be in charge.
Only this particular examination could easily determine if Ophe had a birthmark on her waist.
Natalie was taken back by the female doctor's words. Her worst fear had come true.
The baby girl she had abandoned years ago had found her way back to Dovie.
If Dovie finds out that Ophe is her daughter, Niamh's true identity will be revealed.
Natalie was in a panic as she couldn't let Dovie know that.
The best solution was to cut off all ties between Ophe and Dovie.
Ophe had the support of the Abbott family, so Natalie couldn't harm her, which caused Natalie in a dilemma.
After Ophe finished her examination and was about to leave with Finnegan, she ran into Dovie in the corridor.
Ophe was surprised, asking, "What are you doing here?"
Finnegan, seeing Dovie, realized that her appearance couldn't be a coincidence, considering that she had asked him about Ophe's appointment previously.
Dovie smiled and said, "I'm here for a full-body checkup. I come for once every year. Ophe, how did your checkup go? What did the doctor say?"
Ophe glanced at Finnegan before replying to Dovie, "Everything is normal. I'm fine."
"That's good," Dovie said with a smile. "Checkups can be tiring. Finnegan, why don't you take Ophe home to rest?"
"Sure," Finnegan replied, then asked, "How was your checkup?"
Dovie replied lovingly, "I'm still waiting for the report. You two go home first."
Finnegan didn't stay any longer and left with Ophe.
In the car, Finnegan said, "Dovie seems to care a lot about you. She asked me about your checkup date and the hospital previously, and we ran into her here today."
Ophe was puzzled and said, "Dovie is indeed very kind to me, but it seems a bit much for her to come here just to talk to me."
Finnegan also found it strange that Dovie didn't say much when she saw Ophe earlier.
Dovie's concern for Ophe, though excessive, wasn't a bad thing.
Finnegan said, "I'll take you back to Rose Garden."
"Okay," Ophe replied. She felt sleepy during the day and could take two or three naps, but she was energetic at night.
She had woken up early for the checkup and now wanted to go home and rest.
Finnegan dropped Ophe off, and Lynn, seeing her return, asked, "How was the checkup?"
"Everything is fine," Ophe replied. "Are you going out?" Ophe asked.
"I have a rehearsal today," Lynn hesitated before saying, "I have a performance the day after tomorrow. I gave Finnegan two tickets. If you want to go, you can come along with him."
Ophe was taken aback. Why was Lynn suddenly being so nice to her? She was not only concerned about Ophe's checkup but also offered tickets to the show.
Ophe asked, "Aren't you competing anymore?"
Finnegan's move of showing the marriage certificate was quite effective, which led to Lynn's realization.
No matter how unwilling she was, there was nothing she could do.
In this world, the human heart was the easiest to shake but the hardest to change.
Lynn had seen Finnegan's love for Ophe during the time she had been living here. She now understood what it truly meant for Finnegan to fall in love with someone.
Lynn realized that Finnegan had never liked her at all. It was just that everyone thought they were a good match and believed they were meant to be together. In fact, Finnegan had never said anything affectionate to her or done anything.
Lynn didn't answer, but Ophe understood. Although Lynn was persistent, she also knew when to stop. On the one hand, she was competitive; on the other hand, she was also honest.
The only dishonorable thing Lynn had done was to edit a video, trying to create a rift between Ophe and Finnegan.
Lynn had always been puzzled about this, so she asked, "Ophe, why didn't you believe when I showed you the video of me and Finnegan? Do you really trust him that much? With his status and position, there will be countless women coming up to him. Why were you really so confident that he could resist the temptation?"
