Chapter 563 Setting Up a Date for Lloyd
Jude and Celia both looked exhausted.
Lloyd tried to comfort them, "Jude and Celia, don't worry. If this attempt failed, we'll find another doctor. Mom doesn't know yet, right?"
"Not yet," Jude sighed. "She's worried about Finnegan. If we tell her the surgery failed, she'll be heartbroken. Let's keep it from her for now."
Lloyd's return was bound to upset Susan, and he had no intention of hiding anything. In Lloyd's eyes, the Abbott family had reached their current status at the expense of his parents.
Making the Abbott family suffer and fall apart was his goal.
With Finnegan already blind, the next target was Susan's favorite son, Jude.
He wanted Susan to watch the Abbott family slowly wither away, which would be the ultimate and the most satisfying revenge.
Celia, exhausted and spiritless, said, "I'm going to my room to rest."
Jude replied, "Alright, go get some rest. It's been a long day."
Celia went upstairs, and Jude sat on the living room sofa, asking, "Lloyd, where did you go today?"
Lloyd said, "I was busy with some business. Jude, you look tired too. You should go rest."
Jude, feeling down, suddenly remembered something and perked up. "Oh no, I almost forgot something. Lloyd, I set you up with Paula Ward. Let me introduce her. Paula Ward is thirty-seven years old, never married. She is too busy with her career and misses out on her own marriage."
"Jude, I don't need..." Lloyd said.
Before Lloyd could finish, Jude's phone rang. It was Paula calling, "Jude, it's almost eight. Why aren't you here yet? Didn't we agree on seven-thirty?"
"Paula, we're on our way. There was some traffic." Jude made up an excuse on the spot.
After hanging up, he immediately dragged Lloyd out the door. "Let's go, Paula's already there."
Lloyd, the founder of Moonlight Gate, was thus dragged by Jude to a blind date.
At the restaurant, Jude waved to a curly-haired beauty by the window. "Paula, we're here."
"Lloyd, hurry up," Jude urged enthusiastically.
Lloyd, unhurried and reluctant, was forcibly brought to Paula by Jude. "Paula, this is Lloyd Abbott, fifty-two years old."
Lloyd had a refined look, dressed in traditional attire, exuding an elegant aura. He didn't look that old.
Paula was immediately attracted to Lloyd but was a bit concerned about his age.
"Please, have a seat," Paula said politely, then asked, "Lloyd, right? What do you do for a living? Jude, I've never heard of Lloyd before."
Jude certainly wouldn't mention that Lloyd had run away from home, which would leave a bad impression.
Jude pulled Lloyd to sit down and said, "Lloyd was busy with business abroad and rarely came back, so no one knows him."
Jude then said to Lloyd, "Lloyd, say something. What kind of business do you do? Talk about your income and such."
Lloyd glanced at Paula and said, "I run a wine business abroad. Business hasn't been good these years, and I've been losing money."
Hearing this, Paula showed a hint of disdain in her eyes. 'Such an old man has no stable income,' she thought.
Sensing the situation was bad, Jude signaled to Lloyd under the table, indicating he shouldn't speak so negatively and should highlight the positives.
Paula asked, "Have you had any girlfriends or been married before?"
Jude was about to answer for him, but Lloyd said, "No, I've been too busy to find anyone, and I didn't want to."
Jude was left speechless.
Sure, Paula looked displeased and turned to Jude. "Jude, are you sure there's nothing wrong with him? After all, he never has been with a woman at his age. Is he impotent?"
Paula, nearing forty, spoke bluntly. At this age, finding a partner meant matching on all fronts.
Jude was about to assure her there was no problem but then realized Lloyd might indeed be impotent. He turned and quietly asked Lloyd, "Lloyd, are you capable of sex?"
Such blunt words made Lloyd furious as no man could tolerate such doubts.
Before Lloyd could answer, Jude assured Paula, "He's not impotent, Paula. Don't worry. He is a great guy. If you marry him, you won't be mistreated."
