Chapter 413 Mother and Daughter
Ophelia hadn't been sleeping well these past few days, as she was in the middle stage of her pregnancy, and it was truly a torturous time. Her belly had grown larger, and she just couldn't find a comfortable position, no matter how much she tossed and turned in bed.
Ophelia woke up early in the morning. Celia accompanied her for breakfast and then started sharing her parenting experiences with her.
As Ophelia listened, she began to feel drowsy. It was as if Celia's voice was hypnotic.
At this moment, Linda arrived, giving Ophelia an excuse to escape Celia's chatter.
"Linda, let's talk in the room," Ophelia said, standing up. She then turned to Celia and said, "Mom, I need to discuss something with Linda."
Linda was from the company, so Celia assumed her visit must have been business-related. Finnegan hadn't returned to the country yet, and Celia had no reason to refuse. Thus, she said, "Go ahead but remember to tell me if there's anything important. I'll check if the pasta with truffles is ready."
"Thank you." Celia's kindness in the past few days moved Ophelia, so their relationship improved significantly.
The moment Ophelia and Linda entered the room, Ophelia couldn't wait to say, "Show me the test results."
"Here you go." Linda handed the identification report to Ophelia.
Ophelia took it eagerly but couldn't help but feel a bit scared of the results. She clutched the report, took a few deep breaths, and then finally gathered the courage to open it.
She slowly pulled the report out of the envelope, and tears immediately welled up in her eyes the moment they lay on the results.
"Linda." Ophelia's voice trembled with excitement, and tears fell as she spoke, "We are related. Look, Dovie is really my mother! My mother has been by my side all along!"
Ophelia was overjoyed. She had finally found her mother, and with this revelation, she now understood why she felt warmth from Dovie. As it turned out, it was the bond of blood that created that sense of closeness.
Her parents didn't abandon her. Her mother had been searching for her all along but had been misled. Natalie had deceived her, making her believe Niamh was her daughter.
Even as Dovie lay critically ill, she had asked Celia to continue searching for her. This thought pained Ophelia even more.
Her parents had always loved her and longer for her. Her father had died in a car accident while searching for her; his body was lost in the river and was never found.
Linda was also happy for her. "Ophelia, you are the true heir of the Parks Family. Which means Niamh is a fraud, right? Who is she, then? Dovie is still in a coma in the hospital. She'd be overjoyed to hear this."
"Yes." The fact that Dovie was still in a coma brought Ophelia a pang of sorrow. "Prepare the car. I'm going to the hospital."
She urgently wanted to see Dovie, even though Dovie was unconscious. She just wanted to be by her side.
Linda said, "Alright, Ophelia, I'll go with you."
It was almost nine o'clock, and the journey from the old mansion to the hospital would take at least half an hour.
Linda remembered that today was the day Niamh was to take over as chairman and reminded Ophelia, "Ophelia, Niamh will become the next chairman in an hour. Are you sure you want to go to the hospital first? Niamh is a fraud. She has taken everything from you. The Parks Corporation heir should be you, not Niamh."
"To the hospital first." Ophelia wiped away her tears, her eyes resolute. "Dovie is still in a coma. To the outside world, Niamh is the Parks Corporation's heiress. We can't do anything with just this paternity test. It would be counterproductive. The entire board of Parks Corporation believes Niamh. Going there now would be futile. Without my mother's testimony to prove my identity, nothing would change. I must go to the hospital now."
Dovie's life was at risk. Compared to the position of chairman, Ophelia valued her mother's safety and their family bond more. If anything bad happened, she wanted to ensure there were no regrets and that she could see her mother one last time.
