Chapter 599 Slapping Lloyd
Warmie may be young, but she's surprisingly strong.
Seizing the opportunity while Lloyd wasn't paying attention, she snatched his phone away.
It's often said that the quickest thing in the world is a child's hand, catching people off guard and striking unexpectedly.
Before Ophelia could react, Warmie had already grabbed the phone.
Lloyd was stunned for a moment, then smiled and said, "Warmie, give the phone back to me."
Warmie laughed happily. Lloyd thought she was going to hand it over and reached out to take it. But to his surprise, Warmie threw it with force, and with a bang, it shattered and went black.
Ophelia was silent, and so did Lloyd.
One was dumbfounded, the other was seething with anger.
Yet Warmie was laughing happily, finding throwing things to be great fun.
Recently, Warmie had been practicing her arm strength, always throwing things, biting things, and when she got fierce, she might slap someone in the face, causing real pain.
Warmie was quite strong for her age, with a hearty appetite and a lot of strength.
Ophelia was secretly pleased; Warmie was truly her lucky star and Lloyd's nemesis.
"I'm sorry, Lloyd. Warmie broke your phone. I'll compensate you for it," Ophelia apologized.
Lloyd picked up the blacked-out phone and forced a smile, "It's okay, it's just a phone. Warmie sure has a strong grip."
"Warmie has been enjoying throwing things lately," Ophelia explained. "Lloyd, weren't you going to the restroom? It's over there."
"Okay." Lloyd took the blacked-out phone and went to the restroom.
He was a big shot at Moonlight Gate, yet he was rendered helpless by a little Warmie.
Last time she had gotten hold of his Rubik's Cube, now she had smashed his phone. Truly, she was a little nemesis.
But Warmie had such an adorable smile, the cutest he'd ever seen, and he genuinely liked her.
Lloyd's thoughts about Warmie grew deeper. If he could bring Warmie to Moonlight Gate and train the Abbott family's descendant to be an assassin, that would be the ultimate revenge.
Warmie was the family's treasure now, but if she became a ruthless killer, that would be the perfect revenge.
Thinking of this, Lloyd felt much better and didn't mind the broken phone.
Tate had amnesia now, so even if she fell into the hands of the police, she posed no immediate threat.
There would be plenty of opportunities to silence her.
After leaving the restroom, Lloyd interacted affectionately with Warmie, "Warmie, can I hold you?"
Warmie shook her head, turning away, refusing to let Lloyd hold her.
Ophelia didn't want to let him hold Warmie either.
Lloyd tried to entice Warmie with a toy. "Warmie, I have a toy."
The toy caught Warmie's attention, and she turned to look at Lloyd, reaching out for it. Lloyd teased her by pulling it back.
This irritated Warmie. Her expression changed quickly, even with only two teeth, she seemed to grit them in frustration.
With a fierce little expression, Warmie slapped Lloyd in the face.
It was definitely an accident.
Ophelia's eyes widened, and she quickly pulled Warmie away, afraid Lloyd would get angry and do something to her.
Lloyd was speechless.
His face really stung.
Finnegan, who had just finished a phone call, came downstairs and saw Warmie slap Lloyd.
Finnegan's heart skipped a beat.
Ophelia awkwardly said, "Lloyd, I'm really sorry. Warmie is just too naughty."
Rather than anger, Lloyd laughed. "This kid is something else. She'll go far when she grows up. Girls need to have a bit of fire, or they'll get pushed around."
Hearing this, both Ophelia and Finnegan, who had just come downstairs, breathed a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, the police went straight to Hawthorne's Corporation.
Caspian had just received Finnegan's call and wasn't mentally prepared. He hadn't had time to get Tate out when the police arrived.
Landon, accompanied by colleagues, knocked on Caspian's office door. "Mr. Hawthorne, we need your help. Do you know where Tate is? She's a suspect in Deacon's murder."
"I... I..." Caspian began, about to deny her presence, when he saw Tate approaching from outside the office window.
Caspian was frantic, wanting Tate to leave quickly, but he couldn't do that obviously. In the end, he could only watch as Tate walked in.
"Caspian, here's the translation material you asked for." Tate knocked and entered, placing the documents on the desk, then looked curiously at Landon and his colleagues.
