Chapter 500 The Fate of Finnegan
Her appreciates made Caspian feel excited. He laughed and said, "You still have a bit of conscience. I am magnanimous and won't hold it against you for not agreeing to be my bodyguard last time. Let's forget about it. You don't need to feel embarrassed. I am a kind person who repays grievances with kindness."
Tate remained silent as she had never felt guilty about this matter.
Feeling exhausted, Tate closed her eyes. Even though her wounds were painful, she could still fall asleep as she had not slept for two days.
Seeing Tate asleep, Caspian considerately turned off the light. Moonlight streamed in from the window, casting a faint glow on Tate's face, making her flawless beauty even more apparent.
Caspian gazed at her like this, feeling a bit infatuated. He murmured to himself, "Why does she have to be so strong?"
'Girls are meant to be cherished, not harmed,' Caspian thought. He cared about women. Although he was a playboy, he had never been truly moved by anyone.
For women who appeared fragile, and Caspian, out of kindness, would lend a hand, to help solve a problem, or to say a few words to comfort. Over time, Caspian gained a reputation as a playboy.
In reality, Caspian was just a fool. His eyes shimmered with naive clarity, and those women were using him for their purposes.
Some wanted money, while others wanted to leverage Caspian's connections. Caspian valued his reputation and didn't want to appear foolish, so he had maintained the image of a playboy.
The next day, Tate woke up. The nurse came to check on her wounds and change the bandages, looking enviously at Tate. She said, "Your boyfriend is really nice. He stayed up all night last night. After you went into the operating room, he was still waiting outside, insisting that the doctors save you and use the best medicine."
Hearing this, Tate furrowed her brow.
At the moment, Caspian returned from outside with breakfast. "Tate, you're awake. I bought you breakfast. Which kind do you like to eat?"
The female nurse couldn't hide her admiration, regarding Caspian as a thoughtful boyfriend.
Tate didn't speak. She waited for the nurse to leave and asked Caspian, "What did you tell them about us?"
"I told them we're a couple. How could I tell them you're my wife? I prefer delicate and gentle girls, not someone as cold as you," Caspian said. "With your injuries, if I didn't say so, they might have called the police, thinking I did something to you."
Tate wanted to explode in anger, but remembering the nurse's words and Caspian's night-long vigil, she chose to remain silent.
Seeing her anger, Caspian lifted a boiled egg and asked, "Do you want this? I'll peel it for you. Don't feel embarrassed."
Just as Tate was about to speak, a familiar voice sounded. "Tate, how did you get injured like this?"
It was Anthony.
Upon seeing Anthony, Tate furrowed her brow and said to Caspian, "I don't want it. You can leave." Tate's tone was urgent because she knew who Anthony was and didn't want to involve Caspian.
Caspian, hearing Tate being called by someone he thought she knew and then being asked to leave, naturally didn't stay. He placed the boiled egg on the table. "If you want to eat it, peel it yourself. If not, there's bread here. If you need anything, just ring the bell."
With that, Caspian left.
Anthony looked at Tate and chuckled. "Tate, I didn't expect you to do so well this time. This man is quite obedient. Does he know what you do?"
Tate stared coldly at Anthony. "Don't stare at me like that, or you'll regret it."
"Tate, why are you still so hot-tempered?" Anthony said. "I came this time because the master sent me. Someone is paying to kill a certain person, and the master wants you to do that."
Tate asked, "Whom do I need to kill?"
"The person in charge of Abbott's Corporation, Finnegan," Anthony said with a look of anticipation. "I know you're currently acting as a bodyguard for Finnegan's wife. Getting close to Finnegan should be easy for you, so this task should be simple for you."
