Chapter 560 International Fugitive
Landon raised his voice, and Niamh shuddered, her heart trembling.
"I am pregnant, so there are legal protections in place. You can't take action against me." Niamh tried to leverage a legal loophole, saying, "The child in my womb is innocent. You can't prosecute me."
Landon sneered and educated Niamh, "Once the child is born, you will still face legal punishment, Niamh. The law cannot be contested by anyone."
Niamh, now truly scared, tried to grab Landon with her trembling hands, but her hands were cuffed, making it impossible to reach him.
"Mr. Benedict, I know I was wrong. I was instigated at the time. It was Deacon who wanted to harm Sybil, not me." Niamh began to fabricate excuses to evade accountability. "As long as you let me go, I'll do whatever you say in the future."
As she spoke, Niamh began to take off her clothes.
Landon, disgusted, quickly stopped her. "Put your clothes back on. There are surveillance cameras in this area. . Niamh, notricks."
Niamh, now topless, started shouting, "Assault! Landon assaulted me!!"
Landon was truly stunned. Other officers rushed in upon hearing the disturbance. A female officer quickly dressed Niamh.
If it weren't for the cameras, Landon would have had a hard time explaining himself.
Niamh was temporarily taken away, and Landon returned to his office, fuming.
His colleague Mario said, "Why get angry with her? It's not your first day as a cop. You've seen all kinds of scoundrels."
Landon sighed deeply, "Niamh is from a rich family, yet she's so shameless. Thankfully, there are cameras. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to clear my name. Finnegan has suffered from this kind of thing too."
Landon took a sip of water to calm himself.
Mario said, "Anyway, we have the evidence. The Sybil case now has a resolution. Niamh is facing several charges. We'll take our time with her."
"How is your investigation going?" Landon asked. "Is person who sniped Deacon that night the same one who tried to assassinate Finnegan?"
They were bothseasoned detectives with keen insights.
Mario said, "The night Deacon died, the first and second shots were likely fired by different people. I scouted the building opposite the hospital. The killer was in the best sniping spot. The first shot couldn't have missed, so there's only one possibility. The first shot wasn't meant to kill Deacon. This is similar to what happened to Finnegan that night."
Finnegan's first incident involved a tire blowout, clearly targeting him but not directly attacking him, just the car.
The second time, however, they did shoot at Finnegan.
Landon pondered for a moment and said, "You mean there are two people in this group. If the first person didn't want to kill him, why the second one did?"
"We'll only know once we catch the killer," Mario said. "I met with the superiors yesterday, and Raymond Stewart and his team have been investigating a significant case similar to these incidents concerning the Moonlight Gate assassins. Maybe Deacon was involved with them.."
The police were approaching to the truth.
Landon said, "Moonlight Gate assassins are very mysterious. This organization has existed for many years, with children disappearing every five years to become their killing tools. I remember Raymond's sister went missing twenty years ago. He found some clues while drinking with me. His sister was likely taken by this organization."
"Yes, that's why Raymond has been tracking Moonlight Gate," Mario said. "Since Deacon's death, the Moonlight Gate assassins have been quiet. These people move around the world. They are skilled in disguise andextremely cunning, making them hard to catch."
"So how did the Abbott family offend Moonlight Gate?" Landon was curious. "I need to find Finnegan and remind him. Assign more people to ensure his safety."
It was the duty ofthe police to protect the citizens.
