Chapter 644 Issuing an Announcement for Proof
Tate didn't say much after that day. She spent her prison days reading and barely talking.
Caspian tried to visit her several times, but she always refused.
Since Tate wouldn't see him, nothing Caspian did mattered.
Caspian felt frustrated and drained, like all his energy was gone. There were no other women around him, and people noticed he hadn't been in any scandals for a while.
Rumors started that Caspian had found someone special, and everyone thought it was Karen.
Karen stuck to Caspian, which fueled the gossip.
By the time Caspian caught on, rumors were flying that he and Karen were getting married.
Caspian was speechless.
Why not just say he and Sandra already had a kid?
It was getting ridiculous.
Caspian was fed up and had the media issue a statement. He made it clear he had nothing to do with Karen. He said he liked someone else, and that person was the first and only one he truly loved.
Caspian was determined to set things straight.
Those past scandals were just women using him for publicity, and Caspian couldn't be bothered to care. Over time, he racked up a bunch of scandals, which actually worked as a good cover. In social circles, how could a guy not have women around? If he didn't, he'd be a laughingstock.
Basically, Caspian kept up a playboy image to save face.
Caspian's statement was like a slap in the face to Karen. She'd been all smug, thinking everyone envied her for almost marrying Caspian. But before she could even enjoy it for a few days, Caspian shot it down.
Caspian was blunt. Even though he didn't blame Karen, just clarified things, it still dragged her into a storm of public opinion. She lost face, couldn't hold her head up, and got mocked for chasing someone who didn't want her, calling her shameless.
Karen was furious and went to confront Caspian. He didn't want to argue, so he hid out at Finnegan's place.
Caspian watched Finnegan play with Warmie while Ophelia pruned some flowers and planted veggies in the yard. He felt envious.
Those two could live a peaceful life at home without going out. How nice.
"Finnegan, you're enjoying retirement early," Caspian said enviously. "Skipping decades of hassle."
Finnegan fed Warmie some baby food and said, "What's the point of earning money if you don't enjoy it? If you're envious, just get married early. Raising kids is actually really rewarding."
"I don't even have a girlfriend. How am I supposed to get married?" Caspian sighed.
Seeing him so down, Finnegan teased, "I heard you're marrying Karen? Congrats."
"Finnegan, you're messing with me too," Caspian said. "There's nothing between Karen and me. It's all just rumors. I've already cleared it up. Now Karen's mad at me, so I'm hiding out at your place for a few days."
Finnegan kept poking fun, "I heard you went to see Tate in prison, but she wouldn't see you?"
Caspian went silent.
"Finnegan, can you not be so blunt?"
Ophelia pruned two flowers and sat down next to Finnegan. Warmie saw the flowers in Ophelia's hand and reached out to grab the petals.
Warmie was at that stage where she put everything in her mouth. If you weren't careful, she'd eat something she shouldn't.
Ophelia smiled gently, "Warmie, flowers aren't for eating, they're for looking at."
Hearing this, Warmie stopped pulling the petals and just stared at them with wide eyes, her cute expression making Finnegan and Ophelia laugh.
Caspian didn't get the joke, "Finnegan, Ophelia, give me some advice. You both have kids to play with, but I'm all alone. It's pitiful."
Ophelia said, "Tate has to stay in prison for three years. Even with good behavior, it'll take a year or two. What advice can we give? Even if Tate gets out, she might not like you."
Caspian asked, "Why? What's wrong with me that Tate doesn't like?"
