Chapter 616 Waiting
Hearing this, both Tate and Raymond's hearts skip a beat.
Tate was wearing a mask, looking completely different from herself. Neither of them expected that Ophelia could recognize her.
Raymond knew that Tate had worked as a bodyguard for Ophelia for a few months. Due to his professional sensitivity, he had looked into some of Tate's past.
Raymond and Tate both stopped and turned around, their reactions leaving Ophelia momentarily confused.
Tate glanced at Ophelia and then observed Raymond's reaction to judge who Ophelia was and whether she was a friend or foe.
Raymond spoke first, "Ms. Sinclair, are you here at the police station because of your missing daughter?"
He directly changed the subject, neither confirming nor denying Tate's identity.
Ophelia seemed to realize something but wasn't sure. After all, when Tate turned around, that face was too unfamiliar, with no trace of the previous Tate.
"Yes," Ophelia said. "Mr. Benedict said there was a lead, so I came to check it out."
Raymond said seriously, "The police will help you find your daughter as soon as possible. You should go home and wait for news."
Ophelia didn't say anything more, and Raymond continued to lead Tate inside.
Tate couldn't help but look back at Ophelia, and their eyes met for a moment. In that instant, Ophelia confirmed Tate's identity.
Joy surged in Ophelia's heart. 'Tate was okay; she had appeared safe and sound,' she thought.
Caspian had said that Tate had lost her memory, so it was normal for her not to recognize Ophelia.
Then Ophelia felt confused. 'How could Raymond, the counter-terrorism unit captain, bring a Moonlight Gate assassin to the police station without any form of detention?'
"Ophelia, let's go," Celia urged. "These police officers are so inefficient. I doubt they won't find Warmie quickly. When your mom lost you, it took over twenty years. Warmie won't be lost for twenty years, will she? My poor Warmie."
The thought of this possibility made Celia feel terrible.
Ophelia, however, felt more confident about finding Warmie. "Celia, you go home first. I have something to do, so I won't be able to see you off."
She wanted to meet Tate alone. If she could make Tate remember, she could find out where the Moonlight Gate headquarters was and find Warmie.
This would also give Finnegan a better chance of finding Warmie in Rivonia.
"What do you have to do? Warmie is missing, and where is Finnegan? What are you all doing all day?" Celia, already irritable after her divorce, was now even more so with Warmie missing, unable to make sense of anything.
"I'm going back to the office," Ophelia lied casually. She really couldn't explain such a complicated matter to Celia.
Celia, with a tone of frustration, said, "I don't care about you all anymore. Just find Warmie as soon as possible and don't let her suffer out there."
With that, Celia left.
Ophelia waited at the police station entrance for Tate to come out.
Inside the police station, Raymond was there for Ruth. Landon had given him all the information and photos related to Ruth.
Raymond glanced at them and handed them to Tate. "Tay, take a look and see if you recognize anything."
This action made Landon take a closer look at Tate. He didn't recognize her and wondered who she was, thinking she might be with counter-terrorism unit.
Landon didn't know everyone there.
Tate took the photo and immediately noticed something odd. "There's something off about this face."
Raymond instantly understood that Ruth was also wearing a mask.
Landon didn't get it and asked, "What's wrong with the face?"
Tate didn't explain, and Raymond made up an excuse. "She means the photo quality is bad and makes the person look ugly."
Landon was speechless.
Landon said, "This is a screenshot from surveillance. It's already pretty clear, and the tech department has processed it."
"Alright," Raymond said calmly. "I'll look at the information again. Mr. Benedict, you can go attend to other matters."
This was a hint for Landon to leave.
Landon get it and left tactfully.
