Chapter 761 Finnegan's Fury

Finnegan sat still, staring coldly at Lily without uttering a word.

Lily, flustered, hit her head on the headboard as she tried to sit up, gasping in pain. Finnegan didn't move, unlike before when he'd rush to comfort her.

'Right, I'm Lily now, not Ophelia, not Finnegan's wife. Why would he care?' she thought.

Her head throbbed from the stitches she got after falling down the stairs.

The ward was eerily quiet, so silent one could hear a pin drop.

Everyone outside the room was tense, waiting for Finnegan to explode.

This calm was the last before the storm.

Gavin, peering through the window, was anxious. "What's wrong with Finnegan? He's just sitting there. What's he planning?"

Caspian glanced inside but couldn't read Finnegan's thoughts.

Then Finnegan stood up, walked to the window, and stared at the people outside for a few seconds.

Gavin felt a chill from Finnegan's gaze.

Finnegan drew the curtains, blocking their view inside.

Gavin panicked. "Finnegan, if you touch Lily, I won't let you off."

"Enough," Dylan said, pulling Gavin away, worried he'd provoke Finnegan.

Caspian murmured, "It's over."

Tate felt the same.

Inside, Lily was on edge. She looked at Finnegan at the end of the bed, her hands clenched and sweaty.

After what felt like forever, Finnegan's cold voice broke the silence. "Where is my wife?"

His voice trembled, betraying his weakness.

Lily looked up and mustered the courage to reply him, "She's dead."

That shattered Finnegan's beliefs and fueled his anger.

Lily continued, "Ophelia is buried in the cemetery. The grave you and Warmie visited, that's where she's buried."

"Who gave you the audacity to impersonate Ophelia? You don't deserve her face. You're not even a fraction of her. What gives you the right?" Finnegan's eyes were bloodshot. He grabbed Lily's arm with such force it seemed he wanted to break it.

Thinking about visiting Ophelia's grave, not knowing she was buried there, and being deceived by Lily for so long, Finnegan was furious and filled with regret.

His heart ached. Ophelia, the woman he deeply loved, was buried beneath that cold tombstone.

For over a year, he hadn't brought her home, leaving her to die in a foreign land.

He felt like a failure as a husband.

At that moment, Finnegan hated himself, wishing he could kill both himself and Lily.

Seeing the murderous intent on his face, Lily said, "You're right, I don't deserve to be Ophelia. Someone as perfect as her can't be replaced. I'm sorry, I never intended to replace her. I promised Ophelia to bring you out of your sorrow. She knew you'd be very sad after her death. I'm sorry."

By the end, Lily was sobbing uncontrollably.

Every word from Finnegan was like a sharp blade stabbing her heart.

Without Ophelia's exterior, she was nothing to him.

She disgusted him.

"What right do you have to replace her? You're not even fit to carry her shoes," Finnegan said angrily. "You tarnish Ophelia's name with that face. You used her heart and you tried to take everything from her. You don't deserve it. Give me back Ophelia's heart. You can't use her face. It must be changed back."

After boss's baby, she Escape
