Chapter 19 She Can't See Me Here!

Magnus didn't have the chance to finish his words. Ophelia told him to head back and got into Ben's car.

It took only about ten minutes to drive up the mountain.

Seraphina came back, full of anger. After snapping at the servants, she heard that Finnegan had come back. So, she quickly changed into a sexy yet pure nightgown and sprayed on some perfume.

Knowing Finnegan had gone to the study, Seraphina washed some fruit and took it to him.

"Mr. Abbott." Seraphina entered with a flushed face and a soft voice. "Have some fruit, please, and don't overwork yourself."

"Leave it there." Finnegan's gaze remained on the documents in his hand, and he didn't look up at Seraphina.

Seraphina felt awkward. Atticus walked over and took the fruit from her. "Ms. Kingsley, Mr. Abbott still has work to do. Why don't you go back to your room and rest?"

Atticus could see right through Seraphina's intentions by her attire.

Seraphina stood her ground, not ready to give up. "Is there anything I can help with? It's too early for me to sleep yet."

Atticus wouldn't dare to give Seraphina any work.

Seraphina gathered her courage and took two more steps toward Finnegan. "Mr. Abbott, I got the gift from you. I like it so much. I've also prepared a gift for you too. It's in my room..."

"As long as you like it," Finnegan didn't pay attention to what Seraphina said and replied perfunctorily. Then, he asked Atticus, "Has Ophelia arrived?"

"She should be here soon. Ben went to pick her up. It's only about a ten-minute drive..." Atticus hadn't finished speaking when the sound of a car engine shutting off came from downstairs. "It should be Ms. Sinclair. I'll go downstairs to receive her."

"Alright," Finnegan responded nonchalantly.

Atticus went downstairs to meet Ophelia, while Seraphina turned pale after she heard their conversation.

She thought, 'Is Ophelia here? Why? Why this late? She can't see me here!'

Noticing that Seraphina was still standing there, Finnegan frowned slightly. "Is there anything else you want to say?"

"No... Nothing," Seraphina said in a fluster. "Mr. Abbott, I won't bother you. I'll go back to my room."

Afraid of encountering Ophelia, Seraphina hurried out, but it was too late to hide because Ophelia was already coming up. In the hallway, there was nowhere to hide.

In a panic, Seraphina turned her back, one hand on the wall, the other on her stomach. She crouched down, pretending to have a stomachache, using her long hair to cover her face.

"Ms. Kingsley, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Atticus, leading Ophelia upstairs, asked with concern.

Ophelia thought, 'Ms. Kingsley? Is she Finnegan's girlfriend?'

Ophelia glanced over instinctively and saw her chestnut curly hair and her seductive yet pure nightgown. However, it was hard to see her face because she was covering her face with her hands and hair. Moreover, she was crouching with her back facing them and buried her head in her knees. As a result, Ophelia didn't recognize that she was Seraphina although she looked familiar.

"Ms. Kingsley, are you alright?" Ophelia greeted her respectfully.

Hearing Ophelia's voice, Seraphina got more nervous. She dared not speak or stand up, merely shaking her hand to indicate she was fine.

Atticus became even more concerned. "Ms. Kingsley, are you sick? I'll have someone take you to the hospital."

Seraphina shook her head, covered her face, and fled along the wall.

Atticus was shocked. "What's wrong with Ms. Kingsley?"

Ophelia watched Seraphina as she ran away in haste, feeling somewhat familiar. But she never suspected that Finnegan's girlfriend could be Seraphina.

Seraphina used to wear only conservative clothes. Even her nightgowns were long and plain, but that woman was wearing a short dress that only reached her hips.

Moreover, Seraphina and Finnegan were from two different worlds, and Seraphina didn't seem to be Finnegan's type at all.

So, even though Ophelia felt a sense of familiarity, she didn't suspect that it could be Seraphina.

Back in her room, Seraphina was frantic. 'Why did Ophelia come to Orchid Garden so late? Was she trying to seduce Finnegan?' she thought.

Ophelia was more beautiful and capable than her. She knew too well what a man and a woman could do when they were alone in one room.

'If Finnegan found out Ophelia was the woman from that night, what should I do?' she thought.

Seraphina paced her room anxiously. She had to find a way to kick Ophelia out.
