Chapter 390: The Tables Turn

Ophelia approached Morgan and secured his agreement to release Finnegan, but that was just one of her objectives.
Having Morgan's signed agreement provided additional assurance for Finnegan's release. The real key to clearing Finnegan's name was the scandal's protagonist, Mary.
Curious, Ophelia asked, "Tate, what did you do to make Mary tell the truth?"
Tate replied, "I used some methods, like tickling her feet with feathers, pepper spray, and laxatives. I tormented her all night until she finally spoke the truth."
Ophelia gave Tate a thumbs up. "You're amazing."
Coming up with such tactics was really impressive.
Atticus also praised Tate. Normally reserved and aloof, Tate had shown unexpected resourcefulness.
Tate continued, "Mary confessed that she framed Finnegan under the instructions of Morgan and a government official from the U.S. This was a joint effort by both the underworld and the authorities in the U.S. to imprison Finnegan. Their goal was to control inland exports, shift American economy to France, and draw American funds into France. Finnegan refused to cooperate, so they wanted to ruin him. As long as Finnegan got into legal trouble in France, trade within the U.S. would inevitably be disrupted."
Ophelia had suspected a conspiracy but hadn't known the exact motive.
Now she understood their true aim.
If Finnegan got into trouble, the Abbott's Corporation board would seize the opportunity to replace his position.
Even if Finnegan eventually left the business world, it wouldn't be in disgrace.
Mary was just a pawn. With the evidence Mary provided, things would be much easier.
"Atticus, contact the local media in France and release Mary's video. The larger the impact, the better. I'll have Linda handle media relations back home," Ophelia said. "Edit the video to prove that Finnegan was falsely accused and did not rape Mary."
Ophelia's goal was to rescue Finnegan and clear his name, not to escalate the conflict.
After all, they were not in their own country, and since this involved an American official, it had to be handled carefully. The rest could be left for the public to speculate.
Atticus was excited. "I'll get on it right away. I was only thinking about how to bail Finnegan out and didn't consider approaching Mary."
Ophelia said, "Mary was abandoned by Morgan, which gave us the opportunity. Otherwise, even if you had thought of it, you couldn't have threatened Mary."
Morgan's dominance in the area was backed by this official, which was why Morgan helped.
Of course, Morgan and Finnegan also had some personal grudges. Morgan had previously lost a shipment to Finnegan.
Ophelia didn't hurry to the police station. She waited until Atticus had the media reveal the truth and generate online buzz before heading there.
When Mary changed her statement and admitted that Finnegan did not assault her, the video caused a significant social uproar.
Linda also managed media relations back home, releasing the video of Marry's false accusation to mitigate negative impacts.
The turnaround happened so quickly that the Abbott family was overjoyed.
Jude said, "Ophelia is really capable. She's only been there a day, and things have already turned around. Looks like Finnegan will be back soon."
Even Celia, who had always disliked Ophelia, changed her opinion of her. "She does have a conscience."
Celia had thought Ophelia would abandon Finnegan at this critical moment. She had always believed Ophelia was only after Finnegan's money. But now, she genuinely accepted Ophelia as her daughter-in-law.
Grandma Abbott smiled, "Finnegan has good judgment. She truly loves him."
Seeing a glimmer of hope, the Abbott family was elated.
Meanwhile, at the Parks family home, Natalie saw the trending news and hurriedly made a call. "Why haven't you acted yet? If Finnegan gets out, Ophelia will return home, and you'll lose your chance."
"We acted last night, but the guys took the other side's money and betrayed us. They took my money and now deny it. I'll find someone else."
"You idiot!" Natalie fumed. "Did they reveal your involvement to Ophelia? This must remain secret. Ophelia must not find out I was behind this."
After boss's baby, she Escape
