Chapter 661 Hostage

Susan heard the gunshots and knew danger was close. It wasn't safe for Ophelia to go out.

"Ophelia, don't go out." Susan grabbed her and handed Warmie over. "You're still young, with a long life ahead. I've lived long enough. You go hide, listen to me."

Ophelia couldn't just let Susan take the risk. If something happened, she'd never forgive herself and couldn't face Finnegan.

"Then we'll go out together," Ophelia decided. "Grandma Susan, while it's chaotic outside, maybe we have a chance to leave."

Most ships have spare speedboats, usually stored in the warehouse. If they could sneak into the warehouse, they might have a chance to escape.

Susan agreed. Ophelia first soothed Warmie, "Warmie, don't cry. Mommy is taking you away. You mustn't cry."

Crying would give them away.

Warmie stopped crying, understanding Ophelia's words, and lay quietly in her arms.

Ophelia kissed Warmie's forehead and led Susan out the door.

No one was guarding the door anymore; they had all gone to the deck to deal with the Shadow Syndicate.

Gunshots echoed all around, and Ophelia could tell someone had boarded the ship.

But she didn't know who it was. Hearing the commotion, she quickly led Susan to move stealthily.

This floor was empty; everyone was on the floor above.

Ophelia and Susan found the warehouse packed with life-saving gear and a speedboat.

"Grandma, put on a life jacket, just in case," Ophelia said, holding Warmie in one arm and handing a life jacket to Susan with the other.

Time was running out, and the noise outside was getting louder.

They were at sea. If they fell into the water, they'd need the life jackets.

Susan put on a life jacket and handed one to Ophelia. "Ophelia, put this on. Give Warmie to me first."

Ophelia handed Warmie to Susan, put on the life jacket, and then went to untie the rope securing the speedboat. Lowering the speedboat from the ship wasn't easy.

Susan placed Warmie on the ground and went to help. They needed to hook the speedboat with the davit and lower it into the sea.

Meanwhile, Lloyd had figured out who had come. With the strength of Moonlight Gate, they couldn't compete with the Shadow Syndicate.

Lloyd ordered the other assassins to hold off the Shadow Syndicate and then quickly headed to the room where Susan was held, with two assassins. Finding it empty, he immediately guessed what had happened.

"To the warehouse."

At Lloyd's command, he and the two assassins quickly reached the warehouse, just in time to see Ophelia lowering the speedboat into the water. Susan was already on the speedboat with Warmie, but Ophelia hadn't gotten on yet.

Lloyd pressed his gun to Ophelia's head. "You almost got away."

Ophelia froze, not daring to move. "Let them go. I'll stay."

Susan, holding Warmie, stood on the speedboat and shouted to Lloyd, "Lloyd, stop this. Just give it up."

As she finished speaking, another speedboat pulled up next to Susan. On it were Finnegan and Harold.

Seeing Finnegan, Ophelia, who was being held by Lloyd, felt a bit more at ease. With him there, at least Susan and Warmie would be protected.

At that moment, Ophelia wasn't thinking about her own safety. As a mother, her only concern was Warmie.

Seeing Finnegan, Lloyd grabbed Ophelia and pointed the gun at her head. Hearing the silence from above, he knew his men were all defeated, making him even angrier.

From the start of the incident to now, it had only been a few minutes, and all his men were down.

"Finnegan, you're ruthless," Lloyd said viciously. "You've left me no way out, so I'll make you pay. Let me go, or I'll take your wife down with me."
