Chapter 662 Facing Death

Seeing the gun pressed against Ophelia's head, Finnegan's heart jumped into his throat. At that moment, Warmie started crying, calling out "Mommy," which made Finnegan's heart ache even more.

"Let Ophelia go, and I'll let you leave," Finnegan said, glancing at Harold. Harold got the message and ordered through his Bluetooth earpiece, "Everyone fall back to the deck, let Lloyd go."

Lloyd used Ophelia as a shield, hiding behind her, with two assassins covering his back. Harold wasn't sure he could take Lloyd out with one shot.

Plus, with the typhoon about to hit, Harold didn't want to waste any time.

After giving the orders, Harold said to Lloyd, "Here's a tip: you have ten minutes before the typhoon hits. If you want to leave, head in the eight o'clock direction; otherwise, you won't get out of these waters."

Heading in the eight o'clock direction would avoid the typhoon's storm circle, the safest area.

Trying to reach the shore now was impossible.

The distance was too great; ten minutes wouldn't be enough.

During the mission, The Shadow Syndicate had already identified the safest area in the waters. Once the mission was over, everyone would head to the safety zone.

Lloyd didn't believe a word from The Shadow Syndicate.

To Lloyd, this was just a trap.

Lloyd demanded, "You all retreat one mile away first."

Ophelia glanced at Finnegan. Her racing heart settled, and she gave him a small smile to reassure him. But deep down, Ophelia knew she might not make it out of here today.

She didn't say anything or leave any final words because she knew it would only make Finnegan more reluctant to leave.

If the typhoon hit, no one would be able to get out.

For Ophelia's safety, Finnegan had Susan and Warmie board their speedboat and then pulled back.

Lloyd, holding Ophelia hostage, went to the cockpit, restarted the ship, and quickly sailed away.

But it was just a diversion. After the ship started, Lloyd, still holding Ophelia, launched a speedboat and got on it, leaving two assassins on the ship to throw off The Shadow Syndicate.

The ship was huge, and Lloyd was cautious. He wasn't sure if The Shadow Syndicate had people hiding on board, so taking Ophelia on the speedboat was the safest bet.

The Shadow Syndicate hadn't really gone far, and Finnegan couldn't just watch Lloyd take Ophelia away. He followed in a speedboat.

The sea was pitch black, making it hard to see anything.

Seeing that the ship wasn't heading in the eight o'clock direction Harold had mentioned, Finnegan's heart sank even more.

With the typhoon about to hit, Harold knew time was running out and couldn't risk The Shadow Syndicate any longer. The attack on their island years ago had been a heavy loss and a lesson; they valued their members' lives.

Harold called back The Shadow Syndicate, and Warmie and Susan were brought onto their large ship. Seeing that Finnegan hadn't returned, Harold took a speedboat to catch up, "Five minutes until the typhoon hits, Finnegan, there's no time, retreat now."

The wind was already picking up, waves surging. Finnegan looked into the dark distance, his eyes resolute, "I have to bring Ophelia back. You take The Shadow Syndicate and retreat first."

He couldn't just leave Ophelia in danger. If Lloyd only took her away, there was still a chance to rescue her. But if they encountered the typhoon, there'd be no chance.

Harold knew he couldn't persuade him and said, "Lloyd is heading in the three o'clock direction, Finnegan. Think it through; if you chase him, there's only one outcome."

"Thanks."

Finnegan left those words behind, not considering anything else, and sped up to chase, without hesitation.

Harold didn't chase further. He had family and so many brothers; he couldn't knowingly risk the typhoon's danger.

Finnegan was clearly going to his death.

Harold turned back to the large ship and ordered it to head to the safe zone.

As the ship turned, Harold glanced over at Finnegan, then back at Warmie, who had dozed off in Susan's arms, feeling a wave of emotion.
