Chapter 565 Niamh's Escape
Finnegan smiled. "In my heart, you're the most important."
"Alright, I'll bring Warmie over tomorrow," Ophelia said, already planning to do so, worried that Finnegan might overthink. With Warmie around, it could help ease the anxiety from the surgery.
Sweet Warmie could heal everything.
Finnegan's eyes were uncomfortable, and he couldn't sleep, so Ophelia stayed up talking to him, distracting him.
Ophelia always shared the good news and kept the bad news to herself. She didn't mention the Mexican restaurant or Jesse looking for her.
"When you get better and Warmie is a bit older, we'll go on a trip to see the Aurora and the ginkgo leaves..." Ophelia had many things she wanted to do with Finnegan.
It was said that traveling wasn't about the beautiful scenery but about the person you traveled with.
Finnegan gently held Ophelia's hand. "No need to wait. Once the bandages are off, whether I can see or not, I'll go with you."
Ophelia looked at him, her eyes full of tenderness and warmth. "Finnegan, I'm so lucky to have married you."
Finding a husband with stable emotions was so important.
Finnegan chuckled. "You don't know how many people envy me for marrying such a capable and beautiful wife. Ophelia, do you regret marrying me?"
"Never," Ophelia said. "It's said that a couple will have countless moments of wanting to strangle each other or get divorced, but we haven't even had a fight. Finnegan, do you think it's abnormal for a couple not to argue? Maybe we should have a fight someday?"
Finnegan laughed. "I don't know how to argue."
Ophelia teased, "You used to be good at cursing people. You once said that keeping me at your side helps you stay awake. Wasn't that an attack on my appearance?"
Finnegan pretended to have amnesia. "Did I? You must be mistaken."
Seeing him play dumb, Ophelia burst into laughter. "By the way, my dad went back to Country F. He's still preparing for our wedding. Once you get better, the wedding will go on as planned."
"A wedding is a must for you. My wife must wear a wedding dress and look beautiful," Finnegan said. "I owe you that. Warmie is already so big. It's time for the wedding."
Finnegan had always remembered this. If it weren't for his eye problem, the wedding would have been arranged already.
As they chatted, Ophelia fell asleep in his arms.
Knowing she was tired, Finnegan didn't move, holding her in the same position.
Finnegan's surgery wasn't a failure. He and James had conspired to tell everyone it was. But whether it was truly successful would only be known once the bandages were off.
Finnegan didn't intend to deceive Ophelia. The fewer people who knew, the better the outcome.
Lying in Finnegan's arms, Ophelia slept soundly. However, the next day, she received news from Landon.
Last night, Niamh had escaped from prison, rescued silently. The surveillance system was completely hacked.
This was clearly organized and planned.
The police immediately suspected it was commited by Moonlight Gate. This was their usual method which wasn't used for the first time.
The only one who could get Moonlight Gate to act and care so much about Niamh was Jesse. The police focused on Jesse at once.
Jesse had only been trying his luck, not expecting Moonlight Gate to actually get Niamh out. But before he could see Niamh, he was taken to the police station for questioning.
Jesse said, "I really don't know anything about Moonlight Gate. Did something happen to Niamh? Are you guys lying to me? Where is Niamh?"
Jesse was genuinely confused. 'The police said Niamh had escaped, but where is she?' he thought.
He hadn't seen Niamh.
Landon said sternly, "Jesse, we hope you can cooperate with the investigation."
"I can't cooperate. I don't know anything," Jesse said. "If you don't believe me, go check."
He hadn't really interacted with Moonlight Gate and didn't know them. He had only placed an order through an email, which was a virtual email. Each employer was different, and the email was discarded after one use. Even the payments were hidden, untraceable by the police.
