Chapter 318 Suffering for the Sake of Saving Face
Sybil glanced at the trash can and reached in to take out the pregnant woman's powdered milk.
"It's still new; why throw it away?"
Sybil muttered , and she examined it carefully and confirmed that it was for pregnant women.
'Why did Seraphina buy pregnant milk powder? And why throw it away?' She pondered.
Sybil had just seen Seraphina and Magnus getting into the car together, carrying a lot of things.
Due to the distance, she needed to see clearly what they were carrying, but judging from the packaging, it seemed like gifts for someone.
'Why did Seraphina change her mind midway? And why throw away the pregnant milk powder?' She was confused.
It was a new product, not expired, with a price tag at the bottom. It was just a small tub costing nearly one hundred dollars.
'Such an expensive item shouldn't have been thrown away.' She thought.
Sybil glanced in the direction Magnus drove off, curious about who the items were meant for.
Sybil's main goal was to have Niamh accompany her parents to the burial. She wasn't very concerned about what Seraphina had done.
As Niamh and Ricky are engaged, it would be even more challenging to make Niamh fall from grace.
She still hadn't found Dovie's biological daughter, and she was unsure when she could avenge her parents.
The rain gradually stopped.
Magnus, carrying gifts, went to Ophelia's house to apologize and express gratitude.
Ophelia wasn't really angry; she was just busy during this time, which was why she hadn't visited Magnus.
Ophelia personally went to the door to greet him, her belly noticeably larger, over four months pregnant.
"Let me help with some of these." Ophelia reached out to take them. "Why did you buy so much? What's with all this politeness?"
Magnus replied, "I can handle it. I was a bit harsh last time, Ophelia. Don't take it to heart."
"Am I that petty?" Ophelia said. "By the way, how did you settle them? Has Tobias come out?"
Magnus felt a bit embarrassed and said, "They are staying in a house I rented for my mom. They've been behaving this time. Let's skip this topic."
Bringing the items into the living room, Magnus unpacked the bag and said, "These are clothes I bought for the baby, two sets for both boys and girls, as well as these calcium tablets and this pregnant milk powder. Pregnant women need nutrition; this milk powder is good for them. The store owner told me it sells well and is popular. Just drink it twice a day; If it tastes good, I'll buy more next time."
"Let me see." Ophelia took the pregnant milk powder and examined it. "I've heard of this brand before; the doctor also recommended it to me. You've chosen well."
"That's great," Magnus smiled. "You can mix a bit to taste; there's a measuring guide on top. Three scoops at a time."
"I didn't eat much this morning, and I am feeling a bit hungry now. I'll have Lina mix some for me." Ophelia called Lina over and handed her the milk powder. "Lina, please mix a bowl for me."
"Sure, it'll be ready soon." Lina took the milk powder with a smile.
Ophelia said to Magnus, "Sit down and rest for a while. Have some fruit. How's your injury now?"
"It's getting better." Magnus touched his head. "I'll have the bandages removed next week."
Having stitches on his head meant a longer recovery time, but he didn't need to stay in the hospital all the time.
"That's good." Ophelia said.
Just as Ophelia finished speaking, a familiar voice was heard.
"Ophe."
Old Abbott came in happily.
To Ophelia's surprise, Celia also arrived.
'What day was it today?' She thought.
Ophelia was surprised because Celia brought a lot of things with the butler.
"These are for your nutrition." Celia said proudly, "Don't think I'm doing this for you; it's for my granddaughter in your belly. Let me tell you. You better give birth to a granddaughter for me. It would help if you ate these things on time; I'll have Lina watch you. If you dare to throw them away or not eat them, I won't spare you."
Celia used the harshest tone to say the gentlest words, naturally maintaining her posture in front of her daughter-in-law.
Even when giving things to Ophelia, she used the firmest tone.
Old Abbott held Ophelia's hand, winked, and said, "She's always like this; she cares about you. She dragged me here to see you. Celia all personally selected these things."
Old Abbott directly exposed Celia's intentions, making Celia embarrassed. "Mom, I didn't come to see her."
Ophelia hid a smile on her face and said to Celia, "Thank you."
