Chapter 224 Family Card

Finnegan considered everything for Ophe, and Magnus suddenly realized that Finnegan's love for Ophe was even stronger than he had imagined.

Magnus immediately expressed, "Rest assured, I will keep an eye on Seraphina. No one expected her to take those photos. I thought she had really changed, but I didn't expect her to hold such deep resentment in her heart."

When Seraphina said sarcastic words in front of him, he took it as her venting. It was only when she sent the photos to provoke Finnegan that he realized Seraphina's lingering resentment and her desire for a life of luxury.

"Seraphina's tricks may not cause major harm, but they can make people feel upset. Ophe is kind-hearted. She and Seraphina have had over 20 years of friendship, so it's natural for her to feel upset," Finnegan said in a deep voice. "I don't want Seraphina to disturb Ophe anymore."

"I understand, and you can rest assured. Leave Seraphina to me," Magnus said. "I used to worry a bit that Ophe would suffer or be sad following you, considering your social status and the temptations around you. But today, I realized that you truly love her."

Finnegan didn't say anything. He didn't need to explain his feelings for Ophe to anyone or constantly prove it to others.

Magnus only stayed for a short time at the restaurant. The new restaurant was busy, and he didn't want to disturb them any further, so he left after eating.

He had been away for a few days, using the excuse of being on a business trip.

After leaving the restaurant, he finally gathered the courage to go home.

It was currently two o'clock in the afternoon when Magnus returned home. Only Jett was at home, while Tobias and Riley had gone out, and Serenity was at school.

For the past few days, Magnus had been avoiding his family and ignoring their phone calls. When he saw Jett in the living room, Magnus felt a bit awkward and greeted him.

"Magnus, you're back," Jett said, pushing himself up from the sofa with his hands. Jett was paralyzed from the waist down, but his hands were still fully functional.

"Yes," Magnus replied, lacking the enthusiasm he used to have. He didn't ask where his parents had gone, simply giving a lukewarm response.

"Magnus," Jett asked, "Are you still angry at them? As an educated person, do you consider their marriage to be a crime?"

Jett was direct. His mission today was to soften Magnus' heart and convince him to sell the house. Tobias would say harsh things, but Jett would speak kindly.

Magnus avoided looking directly into Jett's eyes and remained silent.

Jett continued. "Surviving in that backward village in that era is not easy. Tobias may have had an odd temper, but that is just his poor way of expressing his love. They actually love you. You work outside every day, and they worry about you. They don't want you to have too much pressure. They indeed love you. You can't let them be sad."

Jett started to make use of moral blackmail skillfully. Magnus sat down silently and listened to Jett speak.

Seeing that it was effective, Jett started fabricating more stories. "After you went missing for those few years, they never gave up searching for you. There was one time when Tobias heard news about you. It was during a blizzard, but he walked more than seventy kilometers on foot to confirm it. When he came back, people had to carry him. He was almost buried in the snow and nearly died. After you went missing, Riley cried every day, and her eyes were damaged from all the crying."

Jett made up some touching stories, both of which he had seen on TV, hoping to sway Magnus' emotions.

Hearing these words, Magnus felt a pang of sadness and shock in his heart.

"Tobias and Riley never gave up searching for you. Our whole family came here sincerely for you. But how did you react? You hid it from us and bought this house. Magnus, you can't live in dishonesty," Jett said, tears welling up in his eyes as if Magnus had committed some unforgivable crime.

Magnus explained again, "Jett, this house isn't actually mine. We're all temporarily staying here, and we'll have to return it to its owner in the future."

"Magnus," Jett said with disappointment, "Tobias has only one wish. How can't you understand and fulfill it for him? You know how the people in our hometown bully him? Our relatives and the village look down on our family because we're poor. I'm paralyzed, and you're his son. You have to stand up for him and fight for our dignity."
