Chapter 149: Scared Me to Death

Parks.

The entire company was buzzing with public opinion now.

Dovie sat in her office, silent. Ophelia pushed the door open and poured a glass of water.

"CEO, have a drink."

Ophelia's voice snapped Dovie out of her thoughts.

Dovie regained her composure and asked with concern, "Ophelia, are your hands okay?"

"Thank you for your concern, CEO. I'm fine." Ophelia hesitated and said, "CEO, are you planning to... sue Sybil?"

Sybil tampered with the brakes and is suspected of attempted murder. The current result is attempted murder, and if they were to sue Sybil, she would have to spend several years in prison.

Dovie had been thinking about this as well. She loved her daughter too much, and when Niamh killed someone with a car years ago, she chose to settle it with money to avoid trouble.

"Ophelia, do you think I made a mistake?" Dovie looked at Ophelia and asked hesitantly, "Did I make a mistake?"

Ophelia didn't dare to judge right or wrong. She didn't know the whole story either.

Ophelia said, "Sybil has just lost both of her parents and is experiencing the pain of losing loved ones..."
Ophelia didn't need to say anything anymore. Dovie understood.
Ophelia didn't necessarily agree with Sybil's actions; she simply stated a fact. She was also trying to repay Sybil for her previous kindness.
When she had a close call with Niamh before, it was Sybil who saved her and reminded her.
Back then, Sybil lent her a helping hand, and today, she returned the favor by helping Sybil. It was a way to balance things out.
"I know," Dovie said absentmindedly. "Ophelia, go home early today and thank you for today. If anyone gets hurt, it will greatly impact the company and Niamh's reputation."
An incident of an employee jumping off the company's rooftop already had a significant impact on the company. Now, the company's public relations department was dealing with the crisis, and the trending topic on the internet would soon be removed.
As the leader of the company, Dovie had to consider the company's interests.
Ophelia didn't comment on this matter and, as she left the office, she couldn't help but think about the dangerous scene earlier, feeling a sense of lingering fear.
Ophelia packed up her things and left the company. As soon as she stepped out of the company's gate, she saw Finnegan coming towards her.
"Why are you here?" Ophelia glanced around, afraid of being seen, and pulled Finnegan outside.
In a secluded place where no one was around, Ophelia finally breathed a sigh of relief and let go of him. It was then that she noticed Finnegan staring at her with a serious expression.
"What's wrong?" Ophelia asked in confusion.
"You've really done something," Finnegan's voice was stern. "Rescuing someone from the rooftop, do you know how dangerous that was? What if you had fallen? Have you thought about the consequences? Did you want me to become a widower right after getting married?"
Ophelia, being criticized, suddenly realized and guiltily said, "I didn't think that much at that moment. Saving a life is crucial..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Finnegan embraced Ophelia tightly. "Do you know how scared I was?"
When he saw the video, Finnegan's heart was in his throat. She didn't know that he had driven at high speed all the way just to see her safe.
Ophelia smiled, feeling warm in her heart. "Finnegan, I didn't know I meant so much to you."
From agreeing to date to agreeing to get married, Ophelia had been led by him every step of the way.
She had always been fearful, feeling like she was treading on cotton, never solid. He had given her too much happiness.
For others, it might take a long time from getting to know each other to getting married, but for her and Finnegan, it was less than a month.
There is a saying, "Happiness comes too quickly," just like a tornado. Ophelia felt that way at this moment.
His love came too fast and too intensely, making her sink and powerless to resist.
In this moment, as she leaned against his chest, feeling his heartbeat, she truly realized that he was genuinely concerned about her.
Finnegan looked at her helplessly, "Your life is mine, and if you dare to joke about your life again, I will make sure you can't get out of bed."

Ophelia was taken aback but then realized what he meant. She poked his waist with her hand and asked, "Are your kidneys not weak?"

He grabbed her hand and spoke ambiguously, "We'll see who's weak then."
After boss's baby, she Escape
