Chapter 241 Establishing Trust
From Ophe's words, Finnegan immediately knew that Lynn had told Ophe about his visit to the hotel yesterday. But judging from Ophe's reaction, she hadn't believed it, or else she would be angry with him.
Finnegan's dark eyes stared at Ophe with an inexplicable smirk. Ophe felt uncomfortable under his gaze.
"What's wrong with you?"
As soon as Ophe finished speaking, Finnegan held Ophe's face in his hands and kissed her fiercely. He said with great joy, "I really didn't choose the wrong person as my wife; you are amazing."
He had agreed to Lynn's unreasonable request as a test for Ophe. With his status and position, countless women would marry him in the future. If there wasn't enough trust between them, the marriage would be as fragile as a piece of paper, easily torn apart.
"What are you doing?" Ophe pretended to be displeased as she pushed him away. "My face has your saliva."
Finnegan smiled and said, "This is the elixir of love."
Ophe burst out laughing. "You have no shame."
Ophe turned her head and couldn't help but laugh, then turned back and glared at him. "Finnegan, I gotta say you have no shame. Can't you act like a CEO?"
Finnegan smiled and asked, "Lynn told you we were in a hotel and slept together. Why don't you believe that something actually happened between us?"
Ophe rolled her eyes. "I'm not a fool. How can you think such a small trick can fool me? There must be surveillance cameras installed in the hotel room, capturing footage of you and her in bed and she edited them with some ambiguous words. I took just one look and knew the video was fake. I participated in the photography club in college and learned a bit."
Ophe could also edit videos herself, and she could tell that the one Lynn showed her had signs of editing.
She was angry at the fact that Finnegan fell for it and went to Lynn's hotel room.
Finnegan pinched Ophe's face affectionately. "With such a smart wife like you, I can rest assured. I didn't realize it before, but you are a multi-talented person. Making you my secretary was truly a waste of your talents."
Ophe smiled and then said seriously, "Finnegan, no matter what happens, as long as you don't admit it, what others say doesn't matter. I naturally would rather believe you than anyone else."
If Finnegan ever truly betrayed her, Ophe would need to hear it from him to believe it.
Finnegan looked at her tenderly. "In my life, I won't let down those who trust me."
Ophe smiled. "Let's drive back home."
"Sure, let's go home."
Finnegan started the car and drove with one hand while holding onto Ophe's hand tightly.
In retrospect, they both had experienced life-and-death situations.
When they went on a business trip to City A, they had indeed experienced death, hadn't they?
An hour later, the car slowly drove into the "Rose Garden" neighborhood. Seeing the name of the community, Ophe felt warm inside.
Finnegan said, "This is probably the determination of a married man."
"How did you manage to get the developer to change the name? Did you spend money?"
Finnegan said arrogantly, "With my status, do I need to spend money?"
Ophe laughed even more heartily.
The car parked in the home's parking lot, and they walked in holding hands and chatting happily.
Lynn wasn't asleep and hurriedly came out to see when she heard the sound of the car. She purposely wore a pink silk nightgown. Lynn intentionally made it look ambiguous. However, when she saw Finnegan coming back holding hands with Ophe, the smile on her face froze.
Finnegan saw Lynn and immediately returned to his usual expressionless face. Even his tone carried a hint of coldness. "It's getting late, Lynn. Go rest."
Ophe didn't say anything and let go of Finnegan and ascended the staircase directly.
After saying that to Lynn, Finnegan went upstairs. Lynn didn't have any alone time with Finnegan, but she wasn't in a rush as she watched them ascend the staircase one after the other. It had only been the beginning.
