Chapter 601 It's a Plot
Tate could understand every word Raymond said but didn't grasp their meaning.
Moonlight Gate? Sandra Stewart? She didn't recognize them at all. Even if she hadn't lost her memory, she wouldn't know who Sandra Stewart was.
Within Moonlight Gate, real names didn't exist. Tate didn't know if anyone named Sandra Stewart existed within the organization.
Every assassin in Moonlight Gate had a new name and a new identity. From the day they entered Moonlight Gate, the first thing they did was draw a name.
Their names were predetermined, and whatever name they drew, that was their name.
Tate was among the second batch to join Moonlight Gate, only five or six years old at the time. The custom-made drugs of Moonlight Gate had erased memories before the age of five or six.
Whatever Lloyd said, that was the truth.
Tate shook her head blankly and said, "I don't know, I don't know what Moonlight Gate is, and I don't know where it is. Am I really an assassin from Moonlight Gate? The highest level? How could that be? Am I really that skilled?"
Tate murmured to herself, doubting if she had overslept or watched too many novels and TV dramas, causing such absurdity.
To everyone else, Tate's behavior seemed like a way to avoid interrogation, a cunning tactic.
Raymond was getting angry, and his tone grew colder. "Tate, pretending in front of me is useless. You people from Moonlight Gate have committed countless crimes. Sooner or later, I'll catch all of you."
Tate frowned. "I'm not lying."
Mario glanced at Landon, whispering, "What's going on? Is she really that cunning?"
Landon finally turned to Raymond, "Raymond, let's step aside for a moment."
Raymond glanced at Tate before following Landon out.
Mario continued the interrogation in the room.
Landon told Raymond, "There's been a complication. This Moonlight Gate assassin lost her memory and doesn't remember anything from before."
"Lost memory?" Raymond's eyes darkened. "What a coincidence."
"Exactly. If Tate hadn't lost her memory, the capture wouldn't have gone so smoothly," Landon said. "When I went to get her, she was still working at Hawthorne's Corporation."
Raymond didn't believe it. "People from Moonlight Gate are cunning, and Tate is the highest level assassin. This is just a tactic. I'll take her with me. I have ways to make her talk. Leave it to me."
Landon knew about the counter-terrorism team's methods. Once inside, they'd strip away a layer of skin?
Raymond had always been in charge of the Moonlight Gate case. If he wanted to take Tate, Landon could only accept.
Outside, Caspian called Finnegan for help, trying to figure out how to get Tate out. He watched as Tate was escorted into a car and driven away.
"Where are you taking her?" Caspian hung up the phone and immediately ran up to ask.
Raymond ignored Caspian and got into the passenger seat. The driver started the car.
"Raymond Stewart!" Caspian shouted in frustration.
Raymond rolled down the window and glanced at Caspian. "Caspian, don't interfere with official business."
Caspian said, "I've already told you, Tate has a mental issue and has lost her memory. You won't get anything out of her. Why not hand her over to me? Maybe one day she'll remember, and I'll let you know."
"Caspian, you know what you're saying," Raymond said as he rolled up the window and instructed the driver to drive off.
Caspian had no authority to stop the car. He could only watch as Raymond took Tate away.
After the car left, Caspian walked over to Landon and asked, "If the counter-terrorism unit takes her, is she done for?"
Landon said, "Tate is a member of Moonlight Gate, an international fugitive. What do you think?"
Caspian felt a sinking feeling, "Does this mean Tate's as good as dead?"
He knew deep down that given Tate's past actions and her identity, once she was taken in, she wouldn't come out.
"That's almost certain, Mr. Hawthorne. Consider yourself fortunate. Otherwise, you'd be in danger. Moonlight Gate operatives are capable of anything," Landon said before turning away.
Caspian quickly called Finnegan again. "Finnegan, Tate has been taken by the counter-terrorism unit."
