Chapter 342 As Expected

Niamh's words made Natalie particularly happy, as now Niamh knew she should be grateful to her. Her efforts were not in vain.
Natalie smiled. "As long as you're okay, then I have nothing to worry about. I'll treat you to dinner tonight to celebrate your successful signing."
"Thank you." Niamh smiled and linked arms with Natalie.
The two chatted and laughed as they entered the elevator to go downstairs.
After they left, Dovie emerged from the shadows, looking pensive as she watched the direction they left in.
Dovie thought back to the day she gave birth to her child, her water breaking first, spending a day and a night in the hospital before giving birth to a five-pound, six-ounce daughter.
She was so exhausted at the time that when the doctor brought the baby to her, she took a quick look to confirm the gender before the baby was taken to a nearby table to be dressed.
Later, the baby was taken away, and when she left the delivery room, her husband was holding the child.
That heartwarming scene stayed with her for a lifetime—her husband holding their daughter, thanking her for her hard work.
George was overjoyed at the time and personally named the child Niamh, a name which he spent a lot of time thinking about.
As her husband was the son-in-law and there were no objections to naming the child, the name Niamh was finally chosen.
However, their happiness was short-lived as their daughter was abducted that very night.
Over twenty years ago, when surveillance was not as prevalent, the child was lost without a trace.
Dovie offered a substantial reward to find her daughter, but there was no news at all.
Shortly after losing her daughter, Dovie's husband also had a car accident while searching for their daughter.
That year was incredibly tough for Dovie, and she even contemplated suicide, but George pulled her back from the brink.
The uncertainty of her daughter's fate kept Dovie going, driving her to continue living.
Fifteen years after losing her daughter, Natalie returned with Niamh, informing Dovie that this was her daughter.
After a paternity test confirmed that Niamh was indeed her biological daughter, Dovie was ecstatic, as the feeling of regaining what was lost was indescribable.
At 7 p.m., Dovie kept her appointment.
Finnegan was already there, with several dishes on the table in the spacious private room. Only the two of them were present.
When Dovie arrived, Atticus sensibly stepped outside to stand guard.
Finnegan stood up. "Dovie, please have a seat."
"Finnegan, what's going on? Is it about the project or something else?" Dovie was puzzled as Finnegan had only invited her alone.
"Dovie, today we're not discussing business, just catching up." Finnegan poured coffee for Dovie and said, "As far back as I can remember, my grandmother often took me to the Parks family to play. I remember when you were pregnant, George joked that the baby in your belly would be my future wife."
'Our two families had an engagement arranged by our elders,' Dovie thought.
Dovie also recalled the time when she was pregnant. At that time, Finnegan was at the age of five, and Grandma Abbott brought him to the Parks family frequently.
"Finnegan, why are you suddenly talking about the past? You're not a nostalgic person." Dovie was puzzled.
Finnegan pondered for a moment and said, "Dovie, when your child went missing years ago, you were heartbroken. It took fifteen years to find her again, and I understand the feeling of regaining what was lost and your determination to find her. Grandma Abbott also helped search for her but to no avail. To be honest, this was a matter within the Parks family, and as a member of the younger generation, I shouldn't interfere. But I couldn't bear to see you unable to reunite with your biological daughter forever."
Hearing his words, Dovie's expression changed slightly. "Finnegan, what do you mean?"
"You'll understand when you see this." Finnegan sent a video to Dovie.
It was a conversation between Natalie and Niamh, where Natalie pressured Niamh to take over the company and revealed that Niamh was not Dovie's biological daughter.
After watching the video and hearing Natalie's accusation that Niamh was not her daughter, Dovie felt like the world collapsed.
In the video, Natalie revealed that she had brought Niamh back simply because Dovie had been searching for her daughter. She was in a bad emotional state, and the Parks family needed a successor, which led to Niamh's return.
Trembling, Dovie watched the video twice, her lips quivering and eyes moist.
After boss's baby, she Escape
