Chapter 333 Sybil Finds Clues
When the police come knocking, it's never good news.
Niamh had nowhere to hide, so she had to pretend to be calm.
Dovie glanced back at Niamh and asked the police, "May I ask what you're looking for my daughter? Has something happened?"
The police replied, "We received a report that Niamh intentionally harmed someone, and the victim, Ricky, is still in the hospital. We're here to verify the situation."
Upon hearing that Ricky made the report, Niamh breathed a sigh of relief and gained some confidence, walking over. "I'm Niamh. Is Ricky accusing me? I'm his fiancée, and he's cheating on me. This is a private matter between us. How dare he call the police?"
The police asked, "So you admit to assaulting him?"
"I did." Niamh admitted directly. "I had someone break his leg."
Dovie also chimed in. "His family just came by, and we've already reached a settlement. It's just a conflict between the couple."
Before the police could say anything, they received a call stating that the case had been dropped.
As Niamh and Ricky were engaged, Ricky's family decided not to pursue it further, and the police didn't want to waste resources on this matter, so they left directly.
After the police left, Niamh was particularly angry. "How dare they call the police? Mom, did they come to the house earlier?"
"They did. But as they were in the wrong, we chatted for a bit and then they left," Dovie didn't blame Niamh either. When they arranged this marriage, she knew these two wouldn't get along well.
Dovie turned and went upstairs, seeming uninterested today. Niamh found it strange. "Mom."
"I'm going to rest in my room for a bit. Do whatever you need to do." Dovie didn't have the energy to deal with Niamh.
In the past, she was very concerned about Niamh, and if this had happened before, with Ricky bullying Niamh, she would have made Ricky explain himself, and not handled it so peacefully.
"Mom." Niamh called after Dovie, saying, "I want to join the board. You seem tired, and I want to help you. I've been working hard to learn how to manage, and I've come up with a new plan for the Horizon Project at the company recently. Would you like to take a look?"
Niamh was very enthusiastic, but Dovie wasn't interested. "We'll look at it tomorrow. If there's anything, we can discuss it tomorrow. Niamh, I'm really tired."
"Okay." Niamh felt upset but didn't dare say anything more.
After Dovie went upstairs, Niamh's expression darkened. She was sure Ophelia had influenced Dovie. Otherwise, how could she be so indifferent upon hearing about the new plan?
In the past, whenever she showed a little improvement, Dovie was very pleased and gave her everything.
Now Dovie's attitude towards her was completely different.
Niamh was anxious and even more resentful towards Ophelia.
That night, Niamh didn't dare go anywhere. She stayed at home, feeling restless and unable to sleep all night, afraid that the police would come to find her at any time.
When morning came, and the police didn't show up again, Niamh breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed Seraphina hadn't implicated her, or else the police or Abbott's Family would have come looking for her.
But because of what happened to Seraphina, Niamh also behaved herself, as she didn't dare do anything to Ophelia anymore.
On the other side, Sybil, who had been tracking Seraphina, went back to the electronics factory to stake it out. After several days of waiting without seeing Seraphina, she couldn't help but ask the employees at the factory, only to find out that Seraphina had been arrested by the police.
Not knowing what Seraphina had done, Sybil had to inquire at the police station.
Sybil wondered if Seraphina's actions were related to Niamh, as these two had always seemed suspicious to her, and she had been investigating whether they were plotting against someone.
At the police station, Sybil claimed to be Seraphina's coworker, expressing concern for her. With the case almost closed and awaiting a court verdict, the police informed Sybil of what Seraphina had done.
When Sybil learned that Seraphina had poisoned Old Abbott from the Abbott Family, she was shocked.
'The Abbott Family's Old Abbott, wasn't that Ophelia's grandmother?' She pondered.
Sybil knew that Ophelia had married Finnegan.
Curious, Sybil asked, "Why did Seraphina poison Old Abbott? Was there some grudge?"
The police explained, "Seraphina poisoned the wife of the head of Abbott's Corporation, Ophelia, with abortion pills, but Old Abbott mistakenly ingested them."
