Chapter 609 Biological Siblings
Tate, still wearing a mask, didn't appear as her usual self. She had just put on a newly crafted mask to test it when Karen unexpectedly showed up.
"Raymond allowed me to stay here," Tate calmly explained, withholding the fact that she was Karen's sister.
"Really? Raymond let you stay here?" Karen was very surprised. "He is always busy catching criminals. This is the first time a woman has appeared in his house. You must be his girlfriend."
Tate denied it expressionlessly, "No."
"No? Then why are you staying at Raymond's house? Are you trying to seduce him?"
Karen let her imagination run wild and said disdainfully, "I get it. You must have feelings for Raymond and are making excuses to cling to him. You know, you're just average-looking. There are plenty of women who want to marry Raymond, so don't waste your time..."
Tate couldn't be bothered to listen to Karen's nonsense and turned to go into the room.
"Hey! I'm not done talking yet. With such a bad temper, Raymond won't be interested in you."
Tate slammed the door shut, blocking out the noise from outside.
Tate naturally wouldn't explain. She had already said she wasn't Raymond's girlfriend. As for what Karen thought, she didn't care.
Karen angrily pounded on the door. "Come out!"
Karen, with her bad temper, shouted several times outside, getting more and more frustrated.
Just as Karen continued to make a ruckus, Raymond arrived with food and heard Karen's voice as soon as he entered.
"Karen, why are you here? What are you doing?" Raymond's tone was stern, his expression serious.
Karen was most afraid of Raymond at home.
"Raymond." Karen's arrogance diminished a bit. "It's that woman staying at your place. She's so rude, has a terrible attitude towards me, and even shut the door on me. I called her, but she wouldn't come out. Raymond, does she like you and is making excuses to stay at your place to seduce you..."
"Karen Stewart, what nonsense are you talking about?" Raymond frowned, his tone severe, admonishing her using her full name.
Karen was too scared to speak. Raymond realized that Karen had misunderstood and must have offended Tate.
He immediately became very anxious, put down the food, and quickly walked to the room door. "Tate, I brought you some food. Come out and eat,"Raymond said, his tone towards Tate very gentle, which shocked Karen.
She had never seen Raymond speak so gently to any girl.
Karen became even more convinced that Tate was Raymond's girlfriend and that their relationship must be very intimate. She genuinely disliked Tate and didn't want her to become her sister-in-law.
The door opened, and Tate came out. "Raymond."
Raymond smiled and said, "You must be hungry. Let's eat first. I was a bit busy today so I came back a bit late."
"It's okay," Tate said as she walked to the dining table and sat down.
Raymond eagerly unpacked the food and handed it to Tate. "Try these two dishes today. If you want anything else in the future, just let me know."
Raymond was very attentive to Tate, taking care of her in every detail, which shocked Karen once again.
Raymond had never been so kind to her. She didn't understand why Raymond was so good to Tate.
What shocked Karen even more was that she thought Tate was trying to seduce Raymond, but it turned out Raymond was the one being attentive to Tate.
While Tate enjoyed her meal, Raymond poured her water and carefully examined the mask on her face. It was exceptionally well-crafted, making it nearly impossible to tell it was a mask.
"Raymond," Karen spoke up, trying to assert her presence. "Who is this lady, and what is your relationship with her?"
Even though Tate called Raymond by his name, Karen wouldn't think they were siblings.
Raymond responded with a question, "What are you doing here?"
Karen knew the house code but rarely came over. Raymond didn't expect Karen to suddenly show up today.
"Raymond, I heard you achieved another major success, solving a major case and catching an important criminal from Moonlight Gate. You're really amazing." Karen flattered him. "Raymond, where is that criminal now? How is he?"
