Chapter 20 An Open Woman

In the study.

Ophelia wanted to get home early as she didn't wanna keep staying here.

After she entered the study, Finnegan tossed the Southwest Project proposal at her, commanding, "Redo it."

"Yes, Mr. Abbott." Ophelia picked up the proposal, glanced at it, and then asked, "Mr. Abbott, is there a problem with it?"

Finnegan's gaze was icy as it fixed on her. "Do I need to teach you how to do it?"

Sensing Finnegan's displeasure, Ophelia dared not ask more. "Mr. Abbott, I'll redo it right away."

Meanwhile, she complained in her heart, 'He's really unreasonable. But I still need the salary. Well, he's the boss.'

Then, Ophelia sat down and began to redo the work. Not knowing what the problem was, she could only review the project data again, trying to guess Finnegan's thoughts as she redid it.

Standing at the side, Atticus was surprised, thinking, 'Mr. Abbott seemed a bit off tonight. He got some complaints about Ophelia?'

Just as Atticus was pondering, Finnegan called out his name.

Finnegan asked with an expressionless face, "Atticus, why are you still standing there?"

Atticus immediately got the hint. "Mr. Abbott, I'll take my leave now."

Finnegan said nothing. Seeing Atticus leave, Ophelia was confused, wondering, 'Isn't he supposed to stay and work overtime too? So, it's only me now?'

Ophelia stealthily glanced at Finnegan, only to see him leisurely sipping tea and reading a classic.

"Ophelia, you seem very reluctant to work overtime. Have some complaints against me?" Finnegan's cool voice floated over.

Ophelia quickly averted her gaze, and with a forced smile, she replied, "No, I love working overtime. But... Mr. Abbott, there's overtime pay, right?"

Money was her motivation to work overtime.

Never before had anyone dared to ask Finnegan for overtime pay so directly. Ophelia was the first one.

Finnegan's face darkened as he replied, "Yes."

Ophelia smiled. "Then I got no problem."

Ignoring Finnegan's sullen face, she carefully reviewed the project information. When Lina brought her a cup of tea, she thanked Lina sincerely with a smile.

Lina also smiled back, not wanting to disturb Ophelia's work.

Finnegan saw this scene, thinking that Ophelia was sincere to everyone except him.

From Finnegan's place, he could see Ophelia's perfect profile. Just now, Ophelia complained about her hair being tied too tightly, so she let it down, and her black hair fell smoothly over her shoulders. A breeze came, lifting her hair, and adding a touch of grace.

He couldn't help recalling the way Ophelia flirted with him when she was drunk. It was the first time that someone had flirted with him so openly, and he actually didn't hate it.

Besides Seraphina, Ophelia was the second woman to get close to him, to make him feel comfortable, and to stir feelings within him.

The way she lunged at him, her hands restlessly touching his chest, her infatuated look, and her scent all made him feel oddly familiar.

That was why when he saw Ophelia and Magnus by the roadside, he impulsively called her back to work overtime.

He didn't know what was wrong with himself.

Noticing that Finnegan was staring at her, Ophelia felt a bit uncomfortable. When she glanced back, Finnegan guiltily shifted his gaze.

Realizing his guilt, Finnegan felt annoyed. Coughing lightly, he said, "Ophelia, you seem to be a very open woman."

Ophelia was confused, wondering, 'Where did he get that?'

Then she remembered Caspian's words that she had once flirted with Finnegan when she was drunk.

Ophelia showed a sincere smile. "Mr. Abbott, it's a misunderstanding. I might do something crazy when I'm drunk, but that's not my intention. You know, alcohol makes my brain blunt..."

She felt a bit embarrassed by the end of her explanation.

Finnegan just looked at her silently, with an expression that seemed to say, "Go on. I'm listening."

Ophelia took a deep breath secretly and apologized sincerely, "Mr. Abbott, I'm very sorry. I shouldn't have flirted with you."

Finnegan coldly curled his lips. "Ophelia, have you drunk today?"

He still remembered the scene of her being with another man in the woods earlier today.

"No." Ophelia was confused. She had only drunk tea during the meal earlier today.

Meanwhile, she couldn't help thinking, 'What's wrong with him tonight? So odd. Does he worry that I might do something to him again?'

After thinking so, Ophelia quickly assured Finnegan, "Mr. Abbott, don't worry. That kind of thing won't happen again. I'll definitely keep my distance from you. You're safe tonight."

Hearing this, Finnegan felt speechless.

Ophelia really moved a bit away from him with her documents, as she had promised.
After boss's baby, she Escape
