Chapter 173 Unexpected Joy
Ophe just wanted to know if what Tobias said was true and wanted to judge Tobias' character.
Little did Ophe know, Addison said, "He only has one family member. There are no others. Ophe, is what you're saying about Tobias different from what I'm saying?"
"Just one?" Ophe was surprised. "Addison, Tobias is in his sixties. His eldest son is called Jett, and his wife is named Riley. Are these facts not correct?"
"His eldest son is named Jett, and when he was younger, we used to climb mountains together," Addison said. "But his family only has one son, no others."
"The names match, the address is correct, so it should be right," Ophe wondered. "You live nearby, Addison, please think again. Are you sure his family does not have any other children?"
Addison shook her head but then remembered something and said, "When I was a child, I used to go to Jett's house to play. I saw his mother with a big belly, but I didn't see any children born in their family. I was around seven or eight years old at that time, so I vaguely remember."
'Magnus is 28 years old this year, and Addison is 35 or 36 years old. According to Addison, Riley should have been pregnant with Magnus at that time. If Magnus was indeed born, why did Addison say she didn't see any children in the Cobb's Family?' Ophe deliberated.
'It was unimaginable for a newborn to go missing, as they couldn't even walk, let alone go missing.' She brooded.
Ophe found it alarming and believed that there was definitely something wrong with Tobias and his family.
"Addison, is it possible that you were too young at the time and misremembered? Can you please help me ask your family and find out what happened?" Ophe asked eagerly. "Addison, please help me."
Dovie highly regarded Ophe in the company, and the subordinates naturally respected her. For such a small matter, Addison was willing to help and do a favor for Ophe.
"Sure, no problem, it's a small matter," Addison said with a smile. "I'll call my parents after I finish work. They should be working outside and might not be able to answer the phone."
"Okay, that's great; thank you," Ophe said, taking a snack from her desk drawer for Addison. "Addison, try it; it's pretty delicious."
Finnegan prepared these snacks for Ophe, and they were all high-end snacks.
"Ophe, you're too kind," Addison said politely.
Ophe said, "I have more. My husband bought them. Try it, and if you like it, I'll bring more next time."
Addison said with a hint of embarrassment, but she couldn't resist taking the snacks and opening a package. She tasted them and was pleasantly surprised. "Ophe, these are delicious! Where did your husband buy them? I've never had such tasty snacks before. Your husband is so good to you."
These are all imported snacks, and they are quite expensive. Ophe didn't used to eat snacks much before. Finnegan insisted on buying them for her so she could have something to eat when she was busy with work and might forget to eat.
Ophe smiled and said, "They're good, right? I'll bring some for you next time. I don't even know where my husband bought them. I'll ask him to buy more next time."
Other colleagues gathered around, and Ophe shared some snacks with each of them. Everyone praised how delicious they were. One colleague who knew about the brand said, "I think I've seen this brand of snacks somewhere before. They're imported and very expensive. It's not something we can afford at our level. Ophe, who is your husband, and what does he do?"
Lately, the company has been discussing Ophe's marriage and speculating about the kind of man she married. There are even rumors about luxury cars picking her up for work.
Ophe didn't dare to tell the truth, and even if she did, no one would believe her. "My husband's family is in business," Ophe's answer was intentionally vague.
Everyone understood and didn't inquire further. Ophe had to prepare for her evening social engagement. Niamh specifically requested that she deal with Paxton, and there might be a trap later.
Ophe came up with a plan. Before attending the social engagement, she sprayed something under her armpits that smelled unpleasant, like body odor. She believed that with this odor, Paxton wouldn't want to come too close.
