Chapter 535 Targeting Niamh
With a lead, they could follow it to uncover more.
Ophelia rushed to the police station. Landon said, "I was just about to summon Niamh to the station for questioning."
"Mr. Benedict, my suggestion is to have the Department of Transportation check where Niamh was coming from that night," Ophelia said. "This is a hard-earned clue. If Niamh knows the police are onto her, our previous efforts could be in vain."
Landon wanted to summon Niamh, which was a standard procedure, but of course, not acting rashly was the right move.
Landon said, "I've already asked them to look into it. We should have results soon."
"Good..."
Before Ophelia could finish, Mario walked over. "We've checked the records of Niamh's car for the past three days. She didn't come back that night but returned the next morning via a different route. Also, in the past two days, she drove a hundred miles out of town, each time exiting the highway and then re-entering about an hour later to return to the city."
Exiting the highway led to the suburbs and rural areas where there were no surveillance cameras. The police would need more time to figure out exactly where Niamh went.
Hearing this, Ophelia suspected Niamh even more.
She asked, "Can we find out where Niamh went?"
"It'll take some time," Mario said. "We've already got people watching Niamh. As soon as she leaves town again, we'll know where she's going."
Ophelia saw hope. As long as they waited for Niamh to take action, they could confirm it.
However, in the following days, Niamh didn't leave town again. She was busy preparing to apply for a visa to go abroad.
Of course, the police immediately found out about it.
Leaving the country at this time made her even more suspicious.
Meanwhile, Caspian also contacted the Moonlight Gate organization. He directly placed an order, asking them to help find Finnegan and investigate the assassin.
When Moonlight Gate received the order, Lloyd naturally knew about it.
Anthony said, "Master, should I reject this order?"
Finnegan's incident was Moonlight Gate's doing. Of course, they couldn't take this order as they couldn't investigate themselves.
Lloyd pondered and asked, "Who placed the order? Someone from the Abbott family?"
"No," Anthony said. "It's Caspian, the only son of Hawthorne's Corporation. Caspian is close to Finnegan, so it's understandable he'd ask us for help."
Lloyd thought for a moment and said, "Don't take the order."
"Yes," Anthony replied and left to inform Moonlight Gate's information department to reject the order.
After Anthony left, Lloyd called out to the shadows, "Aria."
The next second, Aria appeared. "Master."
Lloyd asked, "Have you found Finnegan's whereabouts?"
"Yes," Aria said. "He's in Red Rock Village, a hundred miles away. He's blind and has suffered severe brain trauma, causing amnesia. Niamh, who took him, is preparing to take him abroad. Master, should we stop her?"
"Niamh can't take Finnegan away. It's been a few days, so the police must be onto her by now," Lloyd said, crossing his legs and smoking a cigar. "Niamh has actually helped us to some extent."
Since Moonlight Gate had found Niamh, they could naturally uncover everything about her. Moonlight Gate didn't need concrete evidence, just reasonable suspicion and inference.
But the police needed evidence to build a case.
Lloyd asked, "Is Finnegan really amnesiac?"
"The doctor treating him said so," Aria replied. "Severe trauma to the brain makes amnesia highly likely. Otherwise, Finnegan wouldn't be so calm knowing Niamh took him."
Lloyd smiled. "He's Susan's carefully nurtured grandson. I wonder how Susan will react when she sees Finnegan blind."
Lloyd suddenly felt very intrigued.
Moonlight Gate rejected Caspian's order, which puzzled Caspian. He immediately called Ophelia. "Ophelia, Moonlight Gate didn't take the order. I even offered more money, but they still refused."
"They didn't take it?" Ophelia was puzzled, recalling what Tate had said.
Moonlight Gate made money from these orders. Refusing even with more money was indeed very strange.
