Chapter 548 Let Me Hold You

Susan's gaze lingered on the Rubik's Cube in Lloyd's hand for a moment before she asked, "Where have you been all these years?"

"Mom, I went south to do business. I've been busy with work all these years." Lloyd stepped closer. "How's your health?"

Susan looked at Lloyd, her eyes filled with thoughts, wanting to say something but ultimately saying nothing. She simply said, "I'm fine. It's good that you're back. I'll have Finnegan prepare a room for you."

"Mom, I..." Lloyd wanted to say he had a place to stay in City N.

Susan said, "You haven't been home in thirty years. What, you can't even stay here for a day?"

The words in Lloyd's throat were swallowed back. He smiled and said, "Mom, how could that be? Alright, I'll stay here for a few days."

"Go rest. I'm a bit tired and want to take a nap." Susan didn't let Lloyd say much more.

No one mentioned the argument from thirty years ago.

Lloyd was a bit surprised that Susan didn't ask anything and didn't show much emotion, not at all like a mother whose son had been away for thirty years.

It seemed that not being her biological child meant she didn't care. Even if he didn't come back, Susan wouldn't be heartbroken. Thirty years had passed, and she probably never looked for him.

Lloyd's resentment grew, but he remained calm on the surface. "Alright, Mom, then you rest."

Susan closed her eyes and said nothing.

Lloyd glanced at her, then closed the door and left.

Jude was just outside. Seeing Lloyd come out so quickly, he asked, "Lloyd, what did you say to Mom?"

"Mom asked me to stay for a few days, nothing else," Lloyd said politely. "Brother Jude, then I'll stay and bother you for a few days."

"This is your home. There's no such thing as bothering," Jude said straightforwardly. "You can stay in the room next to mine and your sister-in-law's. It has good lighting. I'll have the maid clean it up now. As for your apprentice Anthony, he can stay on the first floor."

Jude was very happy that his brother, who had been away for thirty years, was back. He quickly had the maid clean up and asked John to buy new clothes and daily necessities.

After giving these instructions, Jude pulled Lloyd to the study room to chat. They hadn't seen each other in thirty years, and Jude had a lot to say, his mouth almost never stopping.

Jude had many questions, such as, "Lloyd, what kind of business do you do? How big is it? How much is your net worth?"

"Lloyd, are you married? Why didn't you bring your wife back?"

"Lloyd, do you have kids, sons or daughters? Why didn't you come back in these thirty years?"

"Lloyd, your sister-in-law and I have only one son, named Finnegan. Finnegan got injured and is in the hospital. I'll introduce you to him later."

Lloyd could barely stand Jude as he was very talkative.

"Brother Jude, have some coffee." Lloyd took a sip of coffee, appearing very amiable. "I've been doing some small business these years. I'm not married. I haven't met the right person. As time went by, I got older and didn't want to get married anymore."

"You're not married?" Jude said in surprise. "You've lived half your life without a woman. Isn't that a waste? This time, don't leave. I'll introduce you to someone. It might be hard to find a girl in her twenties, but someone in their thirties should be no problem."

Lloyd was speechless.

"Brother Jude, there's really no need."

"You're a man. How can a man not need a woman? Do you like men?" Jude asked seriously.

Lloyd's hand under the table almost crushed the Rubik's Cube. He was really at his limit.

Celia came in holding Warmie and handed the child to Jude. "Take Warmie for a bit. I need to change clothes. Warmie spit up."

"Go ahead, I'll hold Warmie." Jude was very fond of Warmie.

Celia glanced at Lloyd and then went to change clothes.

Warmie was in high spirits today and didn't want to sleep. Seeing Lloyd, she smiled at him.

Jude laughed and said, "Lloyd, look, Warmie really likes you. Look how sweetly she's smiling."

"Brother Jude, can I hold her?" Lloyd was also moved by Warmie's smile and wanted to hold her.

"Here you go." Jude readily handed Warmie to Lloyd.
