Chapter 705 Can't Handle the Shock
Sierra squinted at Lily. "You look different. What's up?"
Lily grinned. "Everyone loves a little glow-up, Sierra. I gotta back. Warmie, say bye-bye."
Warmie waved at Sierra, her voice sweet. "Bye-bye."
"Bye-bye, cutie." Sierra chuckled. "Lily, who's this?"
"My daughter," Lily replied, leaving Sierra stunned.
Before Sierra could ask more, Lily and Warmie were already on their way.
On their walk back, they bumped into Gavin. He took the bags from Lily. "Let me help."
Lily picked up Warmie, and they continued home. "Did you tell him?"
"Yeah," Gavin nodded. "When are you leaving?"
"In a couple of days."
"How are they treating you?" Gavin asked.
"Really well," Lily assured him. "You and Dylan don't need to worry."
"I'm just scared they'll find out someday..."
"We'll cross that bridge when we get there," Lily cut him off gently. "I owe her this."
Gavin knew who she meant and stayed quiet.
Back home, Lily started cooking, and Finnegan pitched in. Gavin played with Warmie in the living room, glancing nervously at the kitchen now and then.
Finnegan, the richest guy in Yorkhaven, cooking? That was a shocker.
When dinner was ready, Dylan walked in, drawn by the smell. "Lily's back."
He was so excited he didn't even take off his shoes. Spotting the little girl in the living room, he looked at Gavin, puzzled. "Whose kid is this?"
Gavin signaled towards the kitchen. "Lily brought her."
Dylan got it immediately.
"Lily," he called, heading to the kitchen. "You're back. And this is?"
"Dylan, this is my friend Finnegan," Lily said. "Dinner's ready. Go wash up."
"Okay." Dylan glanced at Finnegan but didn't say anything, heading to the bathroom.
Finnegan came out, scooping up Warmie. "Time to wash up and eat."
Warmie's hands were a mess.
Following Gavin's advice, Finnegan kept quiet around Dylan to avoid any drama.
After washing up, everyone sat down to eat.
Finnegan poured Dylan a drink. "Thanks."
Dylan was caught off guard but quickly understood.
Gavin chimed in, "Dylan, Lily's on vacation with her friend Finnegan. They're here for a few days."
"That's awesome," Dylan said warmly. "Finnegan, the beach is beautiful. Stay a few more days. You're welcome here."
Finnegan smiled. "Thanks, I appreciate it."
Dylan looked at Warmie. "Is this your daughter? She's adorable."
Finnegan watched Warmie eat with gusto. She had a big appetite and sometimes overdid it.
"Do you drink?" Dylan asked, pouring some wine. "Try this. It's homemade."
Finnegan didn't hesitate. "Sure, I'll have some."
Seeing them drink, Lily smiled too.
Gavin kept his head down, eating quietly, afraid to mess up.
After dinner, Dylan took Finnegan to the beach to collect the fishing nets. They needed to be brought in at night.
While working, Dylan said, "This is Lily's first big trip. Knowing you're her friend, I feel better. Take care of her, Finnegan."
"You can count on me," Finnegan replied.
He knew from Gavin that Dylan couldn't face losing his daughter and treated Ophelia as his own Lily. Finnegan didn't correct him, just went along with it.
Dylan, holding a bunch of nets, looked at Finnegan. "We all need to move forward."
