Chapter 313 The Savior
Ophelia's features were very delicate and deep, also quite three-dimensional.
Upon hearing Rhodes' words, Lynn also glanced at Ophelia and said, " She does look a bit mixed-race. Ophelia, do you really have no information about your parents?"
Ophelia was an orphan, and for so long, no family had come looking for her.
Shaking her head, Ophelia smiled and said, "Stop flattering me. I grew up in New York, never been to France. I don't think I'm mixed-race."
Despite saying this, Ophelia also harbored some expectations for her biological parents deep down.
She couldn't help but wonder who were her parents really.
Due to Magnus' example before, Ophelia had lost confidence in finding her biological parents, but now, that confidence was reignited.
After welcoming Rhodes, Ophelia went to the hospital to see Magnus.
When she arrived at the hospital, she didn't see Seraphina and casually asked, "Where's Seraphina?"
Magnus replied, "She just went out, probably to buy something; I didn't ask."
Ophelia sat down and asked, "Has your mom visited after the last time? They didn't come causing trouble, did they?"
Magnus was silent for a while before saying, "I rented a house for my mom and Serenity to stay in."
Ophelia was at a loss for words.
After settling Riley and Serenity, wasn't he still need to tackle Tobias and Jett?
The pain Magnus endured during this time didn't bring any good results, and all his efforts seemed to be in vain.
Afraid that Ophelia would be angry, Magnus explained, "I emphasized to my mom that only she and Serenity could stay, and don't disclose the address to them. Otherwise, I won't care about them anymore."
"Jett is paralyzed and unable to take care of himself. Tobias is still in detention; do you think Riley can bear to abandon Jett?" Ophelia took a deep breath. "Magnus, kindness comes in many forms. Your kindness will bring you trouble. Have you forgotten that they almost ruined you?"
"Serenity has a fever, and she has nowhere to stay. It's so hot; what if she gets heatstroke?" Magnus explained, "Serenity hasn't been to school for several days; this nomadic life isn't good for her."
"To say something unpleasant, Serenity is not your biological daughter. Even if you want to take care of her, wait until this matter is over, then think of a suitable solution. What you're doing now renders all your previous efforts useless." Ophelia couldn't help but get angry.
Ophelia didn't even need to go to the place Magnus rented to find out that Jett was also there.
After all this effort, everything was back to square one. It was just that Tobias was in for a few days, and Magnus didn't know how long he would stay in the hospital.
"Ophelia, you can't say that to Magnus." Seraphina entered from outside. "You know he's kind, and that's his family, so he has to take care of them. You forgave me when I made a mistake, so don't argue with them. Instead of letting them continue causing trouble, it's better to rent a house for them, give them some living expenses every month, and not interfere with each other."
Ophelia stared at Seraphina. "Do you agree, too?"
Seraphina said, "Tobias is unreasonable, but he is Magnus' father. There's no use suing him, and they don't want to go back to their hometown. You can't break their legs and take them back. Everyone is fine now. It was all good in the beginning. If you hadn't given Magnus a house, it wouldn't have escalated like this."
"Seraphina," Magnus reprimanded her.
Seraphina continued. "Ophelia, tough measures won't work with a scoundrel like Tobias; we can only slowly deal with the problem this way."
Ophelia looked at Magnus and Seraphina, suddenly not wanting to say anything.
Keeping Tobias around, Magnus indulged this whole family, which would lead to endless trouble.
Now that things had turned out this way, she was blamed for giving the house to Magnus.
Originally, Ophelia had thought that Magnus should be decisive to cut off ties between Magnus and Tobias' family, and take advantage of public opinion dominance, which was the best way to send them back to their hometown once and for all.
Magnus' attitude and stance were crucial. If he felt guilty about sending them back to their hometown first, he could provide Riley with a monthly allowance. Given the Cobb Family situation, applying for welfare was no problem, and Serenity's schooling issue in their hometown could also be resolved.
But now, nothing was resolved.
Magnus and Seraphina seemed to want to be saviors.
Ophelia said, "Fine, I won't intervene in this matter anymore. If anything happens in the future, don't blame me for not warning you."
