Chapter 421 The Last Meeting
Natalie hadn't had a chance to check her phone or catch up on the outside world, so she was unaware that Niamh had been kicked out of the company.
When she heard Ophelia call out 'Mom', Natalie pretended not to understand and misinterpreted Ophelia's words, saying, "Celia, help your daughter-in-law out. She's calling you."
Natalie wanted to confuse the situation, but Celia wasn't foolish.
Ophelia was clearly looking at Dovie on the hospital bed when she called out, not at her.
Ophelia was in no mood to argue with Natalie at that moment. She stumbled to Dovie's side, grabbed her cold hand, and sorrowfully said, "Mom, wake up. Could you open your eyes and look at me? We just reunited, and you haven't even hugged me. I haven't had the chance to be filial to you. You just wake up. How could this happen?"
Ophelia couldn't accept it. She had only been gone for two hours, and now it was a final farewell.
Hearing Ophelia repeatedly call Dovie 'Mom', Celia and Jude exchanged glances while Natalie panicked. "Ophelia, what are you shouting about? How could my sister be your mother."
Linda explained for Ophelia, "Dovie is indeed Ophelia's biological mother. Here is the paternity test. This morning, I accompanied Ophelia to the hospital. The chairman had already woken up, and the mother and daughter had reunited."
Linda took out the paternity test, and Celia and Jude excitedly stepped forward to verify its authenticity.
Celia was stunned, looking at the paternity test, then at the deceased Dovie and the crying Ophelia.
"So Ophelia is Dovie's biological daughter. Dovie's biological daughter has been by her side all along."
Jude was also both excited and surprised. "Ophelia is Dovie's daughter. The Parks Family and the Abbott Family were originally connected by marriage, intended for these two children. What a coincidence. These two kids really ended up together. We and Dovie are indeed in-laws."
Seeing the truth revealed, Natalie panicked and tried to argue, "How is that possible? How could Ophelia be Dovie's daughter? Niamh is."
"Niamh is your daughter," Linda said. "Niamh is not Dovie's daughter at all, but your biological daughter. Are you still pretending?"
This bombshell shocked Celia and Jude once again.
Celia asked, "Linda, Niamh is Natalie's daughter? How do you know?"
Jude was surprised, too. "Natalie, when did you have a daughter? How come we didn't know?"
Even though they weren't very close to Natalie, they had grown up together and known each other since childhood. It was hard to believe that Natalie suddenly had a daughter.
Natalie couldn't explain, her face pale.
It was too late. She couldn't hide it anymore.
"Tate, please escort her out." Ophelia wiped her tears and coldly ordered. "I want to be alone with my mom."
Ophelia didn't want to see Natalie at all. She tried to accompany her mother quietly and had no time to question Natalie.
"Natalie, please." Tate approached Natalie with an attitude that suggested she would throw her out if she didn't leave. "Why should I leave? My sister just passed away."
Before she could finish, Tate grabbed her arm and dragged her out. Celia and Jude also sensibly left, giving Ophelia space to say goodbye to Dovie properly.
After everyone left, only Ophelia remained with Dovie. She looked at Dovie, who was utterly still and gradually growing colder, and tears fell one by one.
The reunion between mother and daughter was too brief. She could only call Dovie 'Mom' once, and there was no time for anything else.
Ophelia regretted it. 'Why did I leave? I should have stayed with her. At least when She took her last breath and closed her eyes, she would have seen me. I could have seen her one last time.' She thought.
The more she thought about it, the more Ophelia felt heartbroken and hurt.
Outside, Celia and Jude quickly called Finnegan, who was far away in France, urging him to come back immediately.
Ophelia, pregnant and now having lost her mother, would definitely need her husband's support.
Meanwhile, Natalie walked to another area and quickly called Niamh to ask if she had successfully taken over the company.
When she learned that Niamh had been kicked out of the company, Natalie almost fainted from anger.
